Herzlich Wilkommen, Mariska! (I hope I spelled that right!)
I was born and live in the US but my parents emmigrated from Germany (Mittel und Oberfranken) so I speak a little.
I think you'll like it here, lots of varying viewpoints and one goal: to support everyone else. The rest of the site is fantastic too, not just the forums.
I'm particularly interested in how Germans and modern German culture view transgendered individuals. I have many relatives still in Germany and am hoping for a clue on how they might react when I come out to them and I haven't been there since 1998.
Again, WELCOME!

Stop it Alex you are going to make her blush... Too late she is :)
Hello Mariska, and welcome to Susan's. Don't believe a word that Alex told you about me, unless it was nice of course :)
Since you obviously know Alex, he has probably told you all about Susan's and everyone here. Let me just say that you are most welcome and be sure to join in where you can. Maybe you can tell us some deep dark secrets about Alex :) Just kidding, you can get up off the floor Alex...
I'm sure we'll chat later,
Have fun Mariska

Welcome to Susan's Mariska,
Unfortunately we have no baby pictires to embarass Alex with but I'm sure we can think of something. hmmm, now let me think. :eusa_think:
I'm sure you'll enjoy coming here as much as we like having people like you and Alex here. So fix yourself a cup of tea or other age appropriate relaxing beverage, sit down, take your shoes off and set a spell.
Good Journey,
Cassie

You know these translation pages dont have anything that resembles holland but I got German ok.
Sara
I hope that made sense, it probably says the cows were in their yard getting milked at a quarter to three or something like that and not what I actually wanted to say. anyway welcome Mariska.

HI HI HI Mariska,
I'm so excited for you both. I very pleased you have come to meet and share with us. I told Alex when he shared with us about meeting you and falling in love that he should share you with us too...And here you are. Please feel Truely Welcome.
I too am wondering how it is in Germany and even Holland for individuals that find themselves in lives such as yours and many others here at Susan's Place of like mind? What do people feel and what are the laws about how you are allowed to live out your life's desires?
Now for another lighter question. How's the shopping where you are from. I love to shop. Also what about hair and makeup styles do the change very much from ours here in the USA.
Oh Yes, I'm so excited to meet you, I almost for got to introduce myself... I'm Peggiann. My Significant Other I Leah. She is Transitioning Male to Female. We live in the middle portion of the USA, in the State of Oklahoma. It's very nice weather most of the time. Very flat ground as it's a farming community. We live in the home built by Leah's Grandfather. I love living in the Country. I weave baskets for pleasure and relaxation. What do you like to do in your spare time? What is your Favorite food?
Well I guess that's enough for now but there are just so many things I have to ask of you. I'll save some for next time.
Again welcome and do join in anywhere you can.
Smiles,
Peggiann

Sorry Mariska if my post made no sense.
I must admit Joseph I was a little worried about a few words in that text. Maybe Mariska can let us know what it all means. I just said that I hoped that Mariska would check out the wiki which Stephanie forgot to mention (gotta plug our good friend Stephanie and her work) and some other stuff.

Thanks for the kind words Sara, however the Wiki is the result of the very hard work of (and Susan will correct me if I'm wrong) Susan herself, and Kimberly, (former Wiki Administrator), and many others past and present. I have added content of my own, but it pales in comparison. Credit for the Wiki must go to Susan.

Liebe Mariska,
Schone Grusse aus Florida !!
Well that's all the Deutsch I will attempt at present. Welcome to Susan's, it's great to have you. My grandparents are from Germany, and Mom and her siblings were born there as well. I still have relatives in Jena, and a few other places I can't recall. I didn't learn German at home, but I remember snippets of it from my high school German classes.
In any event, we're glad you stopped in and introduced yourself, and I personally look forward to getting to know you better. That Unicorn is quite a catch, huh? ;)
XO,
Valerie

You spelled it wright, however I yust live in Germany comming from the Netherlands I do not know evrything on the German 'Rechtschreibung' I do it wrongly my self.
Luckiely my neighbours are very open minded, they welcomed me gladly even when I told them what kind of neigbour they have got. They were also very helpfull with finding the proper technicians. When I told them aboud me and Alex they were verry glad for us. In Germany most people are verry conservative but they are to polite to show what they really think. As a matter of fact it doesn't bother me any more I am who I am, what others think is mostly their problem.

Thank you for beeing so excited for us both, I like the way Alex spoke about me as I was shown what was written. How it is in Germany I told above in the Netherlands people say I make it easier for them by beeing so open about it. In my job I hadn't any problems because I had my collegs well informed before I came 'en-femme' to work.
Our law allows us to live this way it is just that you cannot change your name or gender in your pasport until you are a post-op (Netherlands), you can start to use an other name after a judge had agreed to it on medical purposal (Germany).
Shopping is like evry where and what people like changes as often as elswhere.
In my spare time I liked to meet people (and now I like to spend more time with Alex as you will understand). Favorit food ? I like it most when it is not always the same and I can appreciate almost evrything.

Hi evry one,
yes I am still in love with unicorn,
my firts appointment went very well, in the middle of april I will have to do my test-battery and after that once a month an appointment until the genderteam understands what I already know.
I have read the story Susan wrote and I am amazed for the similarity in the words she and I happen to use when we talk about our trans feelings in order to explain our selves.
However we are so very different I realy want to learn more.
Greetings, Mariska

Hi evryone,
Last week I had my 3rd appointment with the psych from the genderteam and however they must have spoken to me about 6 times this psych told me that she already is convinced by me and agrees to my wishes. Althoug she has to pay attention to the protocolls she is willing to help.
So lucky me, I could jump a hole into the air.
By the way my health insurance company has given me an insurance card on wich I am refered to as Female and my employer has provided me with company cards on wich I also am Mariska.
So at the moment evrything is pointing into the right direction for me.
