Just wondering...was reading the thread questioning whether pain was possibly from a change in hurt meds or from tucking and there was a comment about tucking and urinary tract infection.  I often tuck with either a tight microfiber panty or a panty girdle over my panties and (other than release to urinate and re-tucking), I might stay tucked throughout an entire day.  Does that increase my susceptibility for UTI's?  I've had 2 in the last 5 years and never made the connection.  Thanks, Nancy

I don't think so. UTIs are much more common in cis females for obvious reasons. Tucking makes things uncomfortable, but does not result in bacteria entering the UT. Remember you're an "outie" ... there needs to be a way for bacteria to enter your UT. This can happen through sex and an exchange of fluids, STDs etc., but just normal tucking, I don't see how. It's never happened to me. Good luck!

Yes, When you tuck and you do not clean yourself after pooing you can get a UTI. Its a subject that has been raised before. I had a UTI from tucking. Being post op I have never had a UTI since.

I got a massive UTI a few months ago. Because it got so bad that I was peeing blood I had to go to the ER.  The Dr told me tucking was most likely the reason. My tucking method involves putting "it" between my legs and then totally flattening it against my taint. (I don't mean to be like vulgar or anything I just don't know the medical word for it)
The Dr told me that being warm and sweaty there caused bacteria. He suggested wrapping "it" with toilet paper before tucking it. And to change the TP every time I peed and to clean the area with a wet wipe after doing #2. I never have had another uti since. Thank god!  That hurt so BAD! Once is more than enough. I can't even imagine getting them regularly.

Julia, Thanks for the info--That makes perfect sense to me, and kinda fits with what I had been thinking.  By tucking we end up exposing the tip of our urethra to an area prone to bacteria, so your hygiene tips are good ones.  If only I had the right equipment in the first place :-).

One of the big reasons I don't tuck. My wife is super prone to UTIs and for some reason I just always assumed that tucking would make me more likely to get infections. I am a super pain wimp. Though I would prefer to have a smoother look and feel by tucking, I am actually so scared of infection that I won't do it.

I don't think there's a reason to be that freaked--I've been doing it for years, think I need to be more careful, but hiding it and having the smoother look is definitely worth it.

Absolutely.  You just can't wear cute or tight clothes without tucking. And also after tucking for a while it's not comfortable having the boy parts loose because they are in the way.

I wonder whether using (and changing after peeing) pantiliners would be worth the hassle?

Pantiliners would probably work too if you wanted to use them. I prefer to just use toilet paper. The way I tuck wrapping "it" in toilet paper helps keep it where I put it. And with toilet paper you can just flush it when you change it. Using powder between your legs also helps keep things dry down there. Now I'm having to deal with boob sweat. Lol

I'm so glad I saw this thread.  I've been trying to tuck (unsuccessfully) for a couple of weeks now, and so now I know how I can be more careful.  I'm wanting to get a gaff to make it easier, but would that make it more susceptible to infection as well?  I might just use a panty liner in conjunction with it.
