Title: New Name, Old Avatar
Post by: Jacqueline on July 18, 2017, 08:58:07 AM
Hi all,

As I am progressing I have decided to change to a name I think will be my legal one. I have been Joanna here for years. Still keeping my avatar, although I may almost be ready for a photo soon(but I do love the webcomic the image comes from).

Wasn't sure if this would cause confusion, thus the post. So, same good, bad or (fill in the blank) moderator, more importantly member; shiny new name.

With warmth,

Jacqui

Well hi Jacqueline,

I'm Laurie and I think we changed names for much the same reason. Thinking towards that legal name change that scares me so much when I think of it. You and I haven't had much interaction like I've had with other staff and I do not know why that would be. Perhaps something about me grates on your nerves. I sincerely hope not as I try to get along with most people. Perhaps we can work on getting to know each other better and perhaps not if that is your preference.
Anyway I'm happy you're looking to the future with the change of names.

Hugs,
   Laurie

May be more to do with the fact that I was off the site, due to work for about a month and a half or so. Then it takes a while to catch up. Similarly, I do work(not retired or independently wealthy) so I am not always on. Although my laptop is often signed into the site.

Part of the other reason for changing my name is kind of funny. Maybe not but I will include it. Personally I was never sold on Joanna it is just close to my given name and I'm lazy. However, lets take a trip back to 2002 or 2003, just after all three of my girls were born. My wife said, "Oh my God! We gave them all 'a' names; AlexandrA, LydiA, SarAh." Then a couple of weeks ago she and I were talking about the future and introducing ourselves to others and she stops and says, "No. No, we can't say DiannA and JoannA." She was kidding. However, as I told my therapist, I wasn't married to the name but I am married to her. Sooo

After research of popular names from when I was born and ones I like, I landed on Jacqueline. It actually fits the rest of my name better. Plus the meaning benefit. Joanna was pretty much the feminine of my name and the meaning was the same. Jacqueline is female of Jacques, french of Jacob. They mean supplanter... seems accurate.

Take care.

With warmth,

Jacqui

Don't worry Jacqui my experience says Laurie won't get your name right anyway, no matter what it is.
