The title says it all. One year+ on hrt and I'm still getting erect when aroused. Prolly 70% of my baseline before starting. T is well controlled with total testosterone being 7 as of last blood work about two months ago.

Erections have always been a huge trigger of dysphoria, and something I was looking forward to not having to deal with. Anybody else in a similar situation? Any suggestions or remedies would be helpful. Ultimate remedy of surgery won't be for another 18 months or so :(

There is an advantage to this. As the glans is retained to make the clitoris, this means you will feel it in your lower region when you become sexually excited. It doesn't show but you definitely know it's there. I was very confused about this because I wasn't aware this was done in the surgery (my clitoris is hidden) and I could feel it but I couldn't find it. Even after all these years, I still know it's there however I didn't find it until about a year ago. Talk about a slow learner  ::)

I'll be honest  I am not an expert, but after 40+ years as a Male,  I have found that erections don't always have to come from arousal.   Personally I believe that there was always some aspect that came from basic human instincts, and that  sometimes it's just the body reacting.

I know it does not help with your dysphoria, but maybe knowing that it really isn't you that's causing it may have a calming effect.

   I am not even 4 weeks post op but with sexual thoughts I feel like I have the feeling of having a mini erection. I know the equipment for producing an actual erection is gone, but that  is the feeling. I wondered if this is  similar to what others feel? I guess I thought post op things would feel more different. Brooke, 2 years HRT with barely any T reading at all and I still had erections. Sorry.

Arousal comes with that. Erect penises, erect nipples, erect clitorises. There are threads in the post-op section regarding erectile tissue and issues with that. It's a YMMV thing, I stay as limp as a dishrag right through orgasm now.

Thanks Moni, that's good to know. I think my expectations were a bit off. My original prescribing physician told me it would be impossible to become erect with t super low. Obviously not the case.

It's not so much erect tissue that bothers me as it is an erect appendage that I don't want, and the way of interacting with said appendage is through stroking the shaft. As Dev pointed out erect tissue comes with arousal. I think after surgery this won't be an issue simply due to the way I would interact with the nether regions.

Sounds like I'll just have to work on being able to get into the right headspace for the next 18 months or so with erections being an instant turn off. The aspect of needing to have my thoughts in the right place before being able to climax is definitely one of the biggest changes to my libido that I've noticed.

I'm post-op and even with VERY low levels of T (3 ng/dl), I could get erect (clitoral engorgement).

A very high level of Spironolactone, finasteride and Moderate E and a day does not go by that I'm not awoken with the dreaded morning wood. It sucks, but it does prove you have a great cardiovascular system. I've heard it stated that people like us are much more inclined to enjoy sex and have the ability to orgasm after SRS than the avg. Woman...so there's that!

Yes...we have good hearts :) whatchya' gonna do?  :D

 :D :D ;D Remember, estrogen is a VASODILATOR.

This happens with me in sexual activity and only sexual activity, maybe half the time. I like to think of everything down there as proto-vulva, proto-clitoris, etc so it bothers me less.

It did bother me at first, even though i did not have much body dysphoria

I too think it bodes well for performance after GCS so i am looking at that bright side.
