Title: Smoothies unite!
Post by: Devlyn on July 30, 2017, 02:13:47 PM
All the hair you see in my avatar is all the hair I own.  >:-)

Any other folks like to keep their bodies tidy?

I have never cared for my body hair but recently it has become an aversion.

In those immortal words of Gollum: We Hates It !

The day I told my doctor I had been taking HRT meds for 5 weeks I returned home and shaved everything below the neck. I have kept shaven ever since.

I don't really have any body hair and the little bit I do have is snow white. But I do wax my legs and I do a Brazilian on my crotch area.

I have always hated body hair, and unfortunately I had plenty. My first laser session was for my back. Before that I was using a Tria home laser everywhere I could reach to thin it out. I remember seeing my Dad shirtless about 40 years ago and although I love him, he looked like an ape (I hope that does not offend any apes out there). The thought of my back ever being that hairy still haunts me. Right now I am using hair clippers weekly to keep my body hair short. HRT is starting to thin it out and that makes me really happy. If HRT does not do the job well enough, back to the laser I go.

One of my grandpa's friends is like extra hairy. Thick hair on his back, across his shoulders and even on his ears. It's totally gross. Some people should never go shirtless! Ewww!

The day I decided to transition I did two things one of which was have a complete hair removal of everything except my head and my bikini...They used a 'Sugaring" method that uses...surprise, surprise, a sugar and honey mix and has the same effect as wax only gentler than wax...Yeah right!!

As I lay there with nothing but a paper cloth covering me the girl who did it was super nice but had this mischievous grin on her face as she said to me

"This might sting a bit".......you think!!! LOL

Total smoothie here.  I had a surprising amount of thick dark body hair to shave.  Tried Nair exactly one time, smelled like a chemical factory and mildly burned my skin.

The point where I got fed up and decided to fix this for good was I lived one week RLE at a private campground in 2014.  Waking up early to shave my stupid chest before anyone else got to the community shower was enough to convince me.  When I got home I started laser shopping.

Laser worked pretty well on my body but was a fail on my face, went straight to electrolysis there.  After my face was essentially done I started having electrolysis applied everywhere else.  I really like the results but some areas were not easy.

I have told my electrologist: this is the least efficient way to lose weight.

God, I wish I were.

I've been shaving my entire body since before I knew I was trans. I cannot stand the feeling of it, especially my facial hair. It's like ten thousand severe and growing blackheads splitting my face apart forever.

Someday I'll be able to afford electrolysis, or at least to buy a home kit and do it that way if it takes me all decade. Someday...

I was doing electrolysis on my torso when I came  out to my technician. She was very happy for me then said that we were wasting time. She strongly advised we go to the face instead cause HRT would get a lot of the hair other places. She was correct. For a more feminine feel I later had her do my abdomen right far down close to the penis. I heard later that for GCS I was supposed to remove hair an inch above the offending member. So rather than have a Clark Gable mustache down there I had it all removed. I actually have a little bit of fine hair in the right place now. I haven't decided if I will keep it. Definitely like being smoothie but the  flip side is hair could help hide scars.

Hey Devil Lynn I love your avatar picture  with that dress. Pretty!

Prior to joining the smoothie club it's called grizzly bare hunting.

Moni you received great advice from your technician at face value.

For my particular case I probably wasted some money getting full-body laser and electrolysis, but at the time I started I was unsure of transition.  When I did decide to transition I was doubtful I would ever use HRT, I had planned to make up some of the difference with surgery.  Now that I have finally started HRT I have so little body hair left, might as well nail the rest with electrolysis and just be done with it.

You might consider having your doctor prescribe EMLA which is a lidocaine / prilocaine creme you place on the area being deforested. Then cover with plastic wrap about an hour before your appointment. Wait to take it of until you are in the chair. Also drinking lots of water. Lastly it appears Natures Bounty hair skin and nails supplements help as the hairs no longer seem to have as much resistance.  YMMV    I now have had over 20 encounters. Luckily my body is relatively hair free so quick maintenance with a little sugar wax keeps me glowing. No that is not hair on my chest. It's the scar from my four heart surgeries.

Still working with electrolysis for the face and groin area, the intention are to get them all (not much more to do). HRT removed virtually all of my chest hair, just a few hairs around my nipples that I pluck every week or two. The hormone therapy is also taking the hair off my thighs. I shave the legs and under arms and keep the arms trimmed short. The hrt has reduced my arm hair from thick jungle stuff to softer finer hair more similar to a natal woman. So Smoothie it is!

The only time I have any hair other than my head and eyebrows is when I have to let what little remaining facial hairs I have grow out for electrolysis.

Yes!! Mines hasn't really changed texture but it got way less, like the little patch of hair has shrunk away to nothing. I do epilate straglers in the region, so I baisicly have a perma Brazilian down ther, it's so nice :3

I'm in hairless bliss now.

6 full body laser (gentlelase)
6 Brazilian bikini laser (gentlelase)
16 laser face (gentlelase)
40+ hours blend electrolysis face
10 hours flash thermolysis face
Silk Epil 9 for the blonde body hairs now
Still going for Blend electrolysis for final assault on facial hair.

I recently had my first full body sugaring including a Brazilian. The outcome is fantastic and the pain was totally worth it. I'm moving soon so now I have to find someplace that will do a Brazilian on me. :(

I'm a smoothie all over. Luckily I've never been very hairy anywhere on my body, so it's easy to stay that way with a little shaving now and then. I consulted a dermatologist about facial hair laser treatments, but it's a little too expensive for me. So far, makeup is working since my beard isn't heavy.

I'm without question part of this club.

I'm nearly hairless other than my head.  No hair under my arms, faint fine hair on my arms and legs which is almost invisible, very fine facial hair that is soft to the touch after about 2-3 days growth and now that it's mostly gray is not especially visible.  I've never been able to grow any sort of respectable facial hair (not that I ever really wanted to; only once attempted to do so as part of a bet with a friend at about age 28).

Oh, I have this one odd lone hair right in the center of my chest, now gray, which I pluck out every so often.

And I don't go bear hunting in a dress... but I might like to.

I haven't done anything about my downstairs hair, and, given that Dr. Brassard is my only option for SRS and he doesn't require hair removal, I probably won't.

I consider myself lucky to have had very little body hair, thanks to DES.  If I had had the wookie look on my chest or my back, my body dysphoria would have been much worse.  I had maybe a couple of dozen chest hairs.  Prior to starting HRT, I'd shave them every so often.  Once I started on HRT, they got fewer in number, finer, and are now blonde.  I can't even find them unless the light catches them just right.

The hair on my arms is so fine it hardly seems worth doing anything about.  Peach fuzz, basically.  I shave my legs from time to time, but that hair is pretty sparse.

So I can't claim to be a smoothie, but I seem to have the low-maintenance option.

Kathy, is Dr. Brassard gonna care if someone gets internal hairs? You would, I imagine. My opinion, I wouldn't trust the lack of requirement.

Kathy,
I did not realize sparse hair was a potential consequence of prenatal DES exposure.  I have strongly suspected I am a DES victim for other reasons, this is yet another supporting piece of evidence.

I didn't know DES reduces body hair either but I was DES for certain and my body hair has always been next to non-existent.

I had prenatal DES exposure, at fairly high levels.  Almost no body hair, and after a year of HRT, only the faintest fuzz remains anywhere but the head, face, and groin.  After 6 hours of electrolysis, the groin area has been cleared in the surgical area three times now, about once every 3 weeks.  The last clearing took about 50 minutes.

I have zero body hair, and at 27 DES probably didn't exist for me.
I have less hair than my gf. Sometimes it's just genetics.
My mom had an abortion before me though, so I wonder can that mess with her hormones or mine?

I have no reason to believe that I was exposed to DES as my mother conceived me within a couple of months of their marriage and my mother claims the only medication she receive was calcium. Other than facial hair, my body hair follows a feminine pattern. Lower legs, groin, underarm and white fine hair on my arms is all I have ever had. My chest, back and area above my groin have always been hair free.

Hmmm.  Food for thought.  The ladies I know who are post-SRS all had their surgeries recently, and are probably too busy managing their recoveries to worry about leftover hairs yet.  But I should talk to them about it.

I might need a general anesthetic for electrolysis there!  Yikes!   :icon_yikes:
Title: Re: Smoothies unite!
Post by: Kendra on August 13, 2017, 11:13:10 AM
My remaining electrolysis work is mostly in that area every 2 weeks, 6 or 7 times now, 90 minutes out of a 2 hour session (remaining time eliminating anything left in other areas).  I hope this isn't too much information but I have been getting rid of everything down there and around and in back, not just the surgical area.  Call it hindsight.  So if anyone was wondering if this is possible, yes it is.  A good electrologist has the attitude "skin is skin" and you are the customer.  I've never had any anesthetic injections, just some stuff from Mexico my electrologist sprays on which kicks in after 15 minutes.  I told her the brand name should be Numb Nuts.

Having experienced this I can see where a local anesthetic injection may be necessary.  I have heard anesthetic injection itself isn't a joy, but at least that quick moment of un-joy is followed with calm.  I don't understand how this area can be done with high quality (truly clearing all hair) under general anesthesia - hair doesn't all grow at the same time so this requires several trips.

Pain levels in that region are inconsistent.  I was surprised to find a few areas of the scrotum and even the south pole itself have relatively little pain (even before the spray anesthetic kicks in).  The worst are areas where the genitals meet the rest of the body, random areas of the scrotum, and a few spots along the south pole.  My electrologist says most people find the perineum the worst but I haven't found it that bad.

I started out very furry.  Half Welsh seems to have overridden half Japanese genetics on this department.  I find the comments on DES interesting.  I asked my mother if she was prescribed DES in 1963, she said definitely no, and my high density of body hair seems to support that - an additional data point.

Yesterday in preparation for tomorrow's VA doctor's appointments, I took a couple hours to shower and shave from the nose down. including arms, hands, and fingers. It will be my first time going for these regular appointments as myself. I want to look nice for my debut to these VA workers I see every three months.

It occurs to me, I don't like hair anywhere except on my head (and that is largely missing). I think this dislike is getting more pronounced though not yet obsessive.

  All smooth once again,

Thank you for sharing that awesome experience, I've been really considering all this.  I tend to think that I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, and so I'm curious to see how my own experience will fair compared to yours... I want to get all the hair removed, similarly to how you did it.

Also... "south pole" ... How is it that this is the first time I've ever heard it described this way?!?!?  That's hilarious!

A lot of work and totally worth it! I thought about writing a movie about my adventures in hair removal. Actually a trilogy.

My chest has been my biggest annoyance. Especially around the nipples. I think my last phase would be electrolysis. Some hairs just won't die from laser and the growth is in too many directions that use an epilator without getting ingrowns.

Financially strapped person here so no laser or anything like it for now. I have worn out my Emjoi epilator and need a replacement. I use it everywhere but my face and have tried that twice. I remember the blotches well and wont go there again. Another smoothie here too.

I have always hated having body hair. To be permanently free of body/facial hair is certainly one of my goals. When I'm totally smooth I just feel like "this is the real me."

Interestingly, although I hate my own body hair, I find guys with some but not too much chest hair and well groomed facial hair to be quite attractive.
