Title: Padded bras, yay or nay?
Post by: Jenny94 on August 08, 2017, 05:59:41 PM
Hey all. Hopefully this will be a bit more of a light-hearted thing, having got down about trans-confused-ness recently.  So I was thinking, as pre-HRT girl, having, y'know, a womanly shape under your shirt could be a big factor in giving a feminine appearance. Buuuut, is it more a drag thing than a trans thing? (Understanding that after all, there are certain things in common...) Personally, I feel sorta tempted, once I've worked some more on my feminine body language and things (I'm pretty early on). However, it would feel strange, I guess, basically using something synthetic to make out I've got body parts that, annoyingly, I haven't. What do you guys reckon?

I personally love padded bras, I just look at it like that's the cup size I'm going to have so why not get used to rocking it

I am definitely in favour of padded bras.  Before I started HRT, I dressed part-time.  I picked a suitable size for my frame and stuffed it wth socks.

Once I started growing my own boobs, I figured it was time to get more real, so I stopped stuffing.  But even after six months of HRT, I can't fill an AA cup, so I really need a padded bra.  I know cis women who have smaller boobs than me who rock the flat-chested look, but that just isn't me.  Being trans and not really passable, I need to send out some clues that say "feminine".

If I ever make it to an A cup, I might dispense with the padding.

I'm bio female, but a nonbinary partial transmale. My breasts hardened and retracted during menopause so I simply stuffed my old bras and went on.

I feel mostly male, but dress androgynously. I consider wearing a stuffed bra a "female marker" safety measure, to prevent attacks from cismales who might mistake me for a tiny, feminine cismale.

A lot of women wear bras with padding. It has nothing to do with being trans or drag. You might be surprised at how many women with C cup breasts use them to give the appearance they are D cup or bigger. The only times I go without the padding, is when the weather is too hot, and I am going to sweat too much.

I hardly ever wore a bra until I became a C cup and now I am going thru a phase where I am really enjoying it.  I also never used to like underwire bras and now that's pretty much all I wear.  I'm discovering that some bras are really wonders of modern engineering.  I wear both padded and unpadded bras, but my favorite are unpadded bras that lift and shape.
They're more expensive, but in a tight top they really do help me feel more confident.

I do not wear padded bras because I wear a 40D support bra.

I am also a bit weird in that I think breasts are totally overrated. But that is just me.

If you want to wear one for any reason, fashion or gender confirming, then by all means do it.

Padded underwired bras every time!

I pump my breasts regularly and I have got large & heavy nipples, which do need support. So a bra with lots of under boob pushup with room in the top of the cups for my nipple pumps is ideal.

I see nothing wrong with a padded bra if it fits better - physically or mentally.

One way I think about this is - at various times padded shoulders were in style.  But there is some padding I will always avoid.  Padding an expense report is risky.

when I first started dressing and going out I wore breast forms and an unpadded bra. After I began hrt and started growing I switched to padded bras pushing up what was developing. Now I am somewhere between a large 36b and a comfortable 36c and have gone to either unlined or lightly lined bras. The lightly lined offer better protection for sensitive nipples. But I must admit that I have kept a few of the push up bras for when I feel like strutting!

I'm a 34B (for Barely...).  My go-to bra is a Warner t-shirt bra, lightly molded cup, no underwire, the "Warner's Women's No Side Effects Wire-Free Contour Bra".  It helps fill out the slightly odd shape (Big rib cage, smaller breast size not fully developed), and is quite comfortable.

I do have one dress that sort of demands a padded push-up. (Victoria's Secret, of course...)

Padded bras are a blessing and a curse.  I love that they give the extra oomph to my figure when I need a boost of confidence and feminine appearance.  But, since my girls are still a little small, even an A cup is a tad large, so the cups tend to rise up and I have to keep pulling them back down in place.  But I refuse to buy any AA bras, since I'm developing fairly well and will fill the A's soon enough.

That said, Victoria's Secret is my go to for all my bras.  I have a cheap one from Forever21, but VS often has good sales so you rarely need to buy retail, even for an "odd" shape like my 36A/36AA.  Some come lightly padded, which can be a good option in between the va-va-voom and the snoozer.

Lots of good information here, many cis women wear padded bras for the many reasons put forth.  A well fitting underwire bra can sure help give your breasts support and better definition.  There is no reason why women wouldn't want to look their best and if takes a good padded bra, wear one.
