Wow Violet you look so happy in your photo, I can totally relate.  I am MTF, not as far along but have been enjoying the upside of taking charge of my life.  I started HRT just 16 days ago but have worked on other things for the past 3 years.  I'm in the state just north of you.  Oregon doesn't have sales tax and Washington State adds 10% - if I subtract sales tax we are the same age. ;)

I bet you have a ton of experiences to share.  I found a wealth of information here that has directly impacted my decisions, confidence and speed of transition.  In turn I am hoping others can benefit from things I have experienced - I have discovered this is all so much easier once you know the right people.

Welcome to Susan's!

Kendra

Thank You Kendra! You look very pretty! Oh yes, I have some stories to tell!
To date I have received 12 death threats while out in public. Somehow I just always seem to run into mean people when I am out there. Probably because I am always smiling and dancing on the sidewalks to my mp3's. I have been told that in addition I dress like a whore, but I can't help myself. I love my clothes and makeup even though I do stick out!

Very nice to meet you here honey! Maybe soon all of us west coast chicks can have a get together. I would love to meet all my sisters face to face! ♥

I am so sorry you experienced that.  I have never encountered that level of hostility.  I've actually had more problems over the years when I presented as my assigned birth gender (racial issues can add a dimension to this), but I know many in the transgender community have encountered stunning levels of bigotry and worse.

Your smile is genuine because you are living as you.  You look great.  You are helping make the world a better place.

I don't always like to conform with the social norm.  If I did, I wouldn't have started down the road of transition.  But I have been paying attention to what other women wear in various settings - I am considering how I will make the big switch at the office and I don't want to cause traffic accidents in the hallway. ;)

Hi Violet,

I'm Laurie, MtF, Oregon also. I would like to welcome you  to the neighborhood. I fancy myself an unofficial greeter here. (hugs)  Welcome to Susan's Place. Get your Tush in here. Susan's is a great place to share stories and get to know others. So make yourself comfy and get to know us though our stories we post in the forums and help us get to know you by sharing some of yours.

I can see you are here in Oregon somewhere and I like your desire to meet others face to face. I've been known to go meet a few of the ladies here  myself. It does add a whole new dimension to the friendship I've come to love here at Susan's. Kendra is one of those I have met. I won'y describe the encounter ere as I've done that in my own adventure threads. Besides I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise for you.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Hi Violet, welcome to the site. You might want to read through those Links V M shared. One of the links has our Terms of Service. One states that new members cannot post links in a post. However, there is the leeway that you can add a personal site  to your signature. Then it shows up in every post.

I also want to share some warnings about being very public on the site. This is some standard copy we try to get to new members:

A Cautionary Note:
This is a public forum so please [remember when posting that The Internet Never Forgets, and the various web crawlers and archival sites out may retain information that you post.

We cannot ensure that any information you share on the site will be protected from public view and/or copying or reproduction. This warning is also listed in the Terms of Service listed below.

If you give out personal information on Susan's you are responsible for any consequence.

Warmly,

Jacqui

I'll try, but I'll have to hitch hike. I don't have a car any more so I am stuck on the south side (where nothing seems to happen)  I would like to meet you too!

No problems. I see I missed two others. I will pull those but like I said, if you make it part of your signature, it will always be there legally. Just as long as the site the link leads to conforms to our rules as well. If you go up to the profile menu, you should be able to navigate to forum settings. That will allow you to create   a personal signature. That's where you can place that link.

Warmly,

Jacqui

Hi Vi,
I am a Beaver Believer, so nothing is impossible!
And I too dress on the edge between 'flirty' and 'slutty'. I dress more like my spiritual age than my chronological age. My skirts are too short, my tops are too sheer, my nipples like to breathe.
I get nothing but positive reactions here on the 'wet side' of the state, which corner are you in? It does sound like cowboy country if they go out of the way to harass you.

Welcome to the party!
Love,
Jin

Sounds like you and I were made for each other! I am in the Medford heat and smoke! LOL Definitely cowboy country, but I still like to dress like a stripper! Of course, I have more formal dresses, but they only get worn to Church. Then there are my shoes. Usually 5" heels because they look fine with a skirt or jeans. I am longing for the Fall when I can wear my boots again, just too hot right now, although I have seen a few other ladies still in boots. For accessories I love lots of rings and bracelets. Always a necklace too! I know I am a Girly Girl, but I like it! ♥

Dear Violet:
Wow-Wheee .... terrific pictures Violet.  You are looking great in both types of outfits!!!
Oh yeah, stay indoors out of the smoke as much as possible.
I have friends in Redding and the smoke and fire damage is only a mile or so from her home... she had to temporarily move out and go to a friend's home in Vancouver, WA for a while until it all clears up.

Thanks for your posting and pictures.
Hugs,
Danielle

Thank You Danielle! I have been considering Alaska myself because as I mentioned in another post, I am ready for a new life and to bury my past. Lincoln City, Oregon is another possibility for me because 2 of my 3 daughters live there. My youngest would be a big help with my eye makeup. She does her's so pretty! Both of my girls could "fine tune" me! LOL

Love, Violet
