Title: About FFS Consult with Dr. Deschamps-Braly
Post by: reignat on August 10, 2017, 08:40:00 PM
Hey folks,

So I've recently finished a consult with Facial Team's Dr. Capitan and I have an upcoming consult with Dr. Zukowski end of this month. I'm also thinking about getting a consult from Dr. Deschamps-Braly, though the consult fee makes me have second thoughts. (Its $300 for the consult and $380 for 3D scans that he requires during the consult).

But I figured I maybe swayed if Dr. O is present during the consult. I know Dr. O has retired, but does anybody here know if he's still advising the patient and Dr. D during the consult about his recommendations? Could we request Dr. O's presence for the consult, and also preferably for the surgery?

Just curious. Thanks everyone!

Hi,
I think I was one of the last few patients that had both the consult and surgery done with both Dr. O and Dr. D present. It was great and I liked the result, minus the prominent orbital rims. When I went I don't remember a consultation fee, and I don't remember the 3d scans being that much, but I could be wrong.

To answer more of your questions, I don't believe Dr. O does anything anymore, I had my stuff done the first time in 2015. Last time I saw Dr. D in March of this year, he just said, "yea he stops by every now and then", so can you ask if he can be present, of course, but will it happen, I don't know...especially since the practice is entirely Dr. D's now. When I went, Dr. O's name was still placed on various correspondents, now his name is no where on the sites. Although it does link to Dr. D site if you Google search Dr. O.

I would just call and ask if you can have them both present, for consult and procedure if you decide to have it done with them, and if they say yes, go for it. It would be a good move!

You mentioned not being happy with the orbital rims.  Does Deschamps-Braly not shave down the orbital rims or something?

This is the second time I've heard about the orbital rim problem from Deschamps and what really ruled him out for me. If you're going to pay that much money, everything better be absolutely perfect imo.

I wonder why he doesn't shave them down.  I thought that was the easiest part of the forehead reconstruction, since they are just solid bone.  The hard part is setting back the sinus in the middle part of the forehead.

Wait what? He charges a premium and doesn't even shave down the orbital rims? That would have beena deal breaker for me. This is why it's so imortant that you find a surgeon whose aesthetic matches your own. I told Dr Suporn to shave down my orbital rims so much my eyes would pop out, basically, and he did a very good job, I definitely would NOT have been happy with anything else. If I am not mistaken, Dr O definitely shaved down the orbital rims like there was no tomorrow, as well.

...if too much orbital rim is removed you will look bug-eyed, and no one wants that, do they?

I definitely love prominent eyes. Unfortunately, I am not quite bug eyed, although I definitely like that look.
