Title: On my way to a consultation for SRS Tuesday =)
Post by: Katrina on August 10, 2017, 11:46:43 PM
After years  of disappointments and false starts I may be finally on my way to getting bottom surgery. =) I have a consultation with Dr Jess Ting in NYC on the 15th and after a ton of arm twisting Medicaid transport is grudgingly coughing up the transportation to help get me there.  I thought it would take two years from the consultation, but I was stunned to hear from the HR staff said it just takes a few months! This is will be my first time in the big apple (or any big city for that matter, have lived my entire life in rural farm country)  so I'm excited, but anxious...

Hi Katrina,

What did you think of Dr Ting and the Mt Sinai group? I have my consult with them scheduled for September. Dr Meltzer is right down the road, but his office staff is even less responsive than Mt Sinai :)

Wow, really? I'm having a heck of a time getting any response from Mt. Sinai beyond the initial two informational messages. I have a couple of really simple questions that I've asked twice now, with no response at all.  Do you have a secret to getting through to them?

On the other hand, those I know who've gone to Meltzer and Ley just love them to death.

No secret except I always write to both Zil and Theresa.

Yes, same here. I guess I'll keep trying.

How long did you have to wait for a consultation appointment?

I got all my info to them after name change in mid December. It was mid january that I got an appointment for September 24th/25th. I could have had an appointment with them in December. But not with Dr Ting at the same time.

I've tried 3 times to get information from Meltzer's office and have never heard back. I guess he is a whole lot better than his office staff

Thanks Tommi,

That's disappointing that it takes 9 months just to get a consultation. I was planning to get everything done this year. I may have to look elsewhere.

For what it's worth, neither Theresa or Zil have responded to anything since January 16th. I emailed them on 1/26 and 1/29, and I left a phone message with their service today, with no call back yet.

They did send the same paperwork requests they'd sent to me at the beginning of December, to my best friend just this week, so I know they're still around. I'm trying to be patient, but I'm feeling about Ting's office the way you do about Meltzer. Frustration!

Details in my own thread, but it turns out getting an appointment with all of their team except Dr. Ting is relatively easy. If you want to meet everyone AND Dr. Ting at the same time, you're looking at at least a 9 month wait to get everybody's schedule coordinated. I have an appointment on March 16th for consultation with everyone but Dr. Ting.
