Title: Uterus
Post by: Jessica on August 19, 2017, 12:43:27 PM
On the outside chance that technology is able to transplant a ciswoman's uterus into a transgender woman.  Would any transgender man donate their uterus to a transgender woman?
Hugs, Jessica 🤷‍♀️

I would not take anyones uterus.
If it was possible they create my uterus and womb even from my stem cells maybe.
But not from anyone else! No way

You bet. We had a joking conversation about trading parts at the last support group I went to. In all seriousness, I would be quite willing to donate my uterus to anyone who wanted it.

I wonder how far they are off from doing it? I found an article that they will be able to do it in a year, unfortunately it was written in 2006.

Trading parts is nothing new. We were trying to figure out how to do it about 38 years ago. I saw a problem with it as we had close to 30 MTFs and 2 FTMs. It appears that the FTMs would be deciding what the trade would be as they would have much to chose from.

I'm not surprised. Our group is a bit closer to even but still more MTFs.

The coolest thing about my support group is that it's about 50/50.

Well, if we had the technology to transplant a uterus the it's reasonable that we could also transplant testes. I know in mtf SRS the penis is used to create a vagina but the erectile tissue isn't.  Lets say that that erectile tissue could be used to create a more realistic penis for a trans guy. So if the transplants are possible you could match up a mtf with a FtM. Then just exchange the tissues to be transplanted.

In general, organ transplantation requires very closely matched immune systems, which is why family members are more likely to be good donors than strangers.  Some of my FTM friends are staking their hopes on emerging technology, i.e. the ability to "grow one's own", which may actually not be too far off.

I wouldn't want a uterus at this point though.  At 50, I'm at the age where it is frequently needing to be removed and functions only as another possible site in which to get cancer.
