I am not sure what the answer to this is, but my mom and me have been wanting to know she says it could take a year or more in Canada but I don't think that is true. I thought it was after you had your first couple therapy sessions.
Depending on if your therapists gives you a reference for it. I am new to all this so I don't know how it works in Canada.
I am anxious to get started so my brain doesn't feel so messed from wanting to be who I am.
I still have to go to therapy next week.

Probably depends on what province you're in, who your therapist is, and availability of an endo.
In Ottawa, I had a great therapist, was on hormones after 6 sessions. My old endo retired two years ago, but his replacement is amazing.

Thanks for the reply. I heard from the therapist I am going to see after a couple sessions I can get the hormones it all depends on how much I want this and am sure I want to go through with it. I am 90 percent sure I want to do this.
It has made me happier than I ever had been in my life just have to prepare myself for the changes is the other 10 percent and telling a couple other family members.

I live in BC and after 2 visits with my therapist I had a prescription from my endocrinologist. I believe it just fully depends on your therapist. I even took a break from my hrt for a few years ( yup kicking my self over that ) and all I did was go to my gp and ask for a prescription and it was granted to me on the spot. I wouldn't worry from my experience it's not hard to get hormones to transition. It's not like 30 years ago

All provincial health care systems follow the WPATH standards. There is no waiting time requirement prior to starting HRT. The only delays will be waitlists to get appointments, and the length of time it takes your therapist to understand your needs and write you the referral letter. In my case, it was two appointments with the therapist for my letter and two with the doctor who prescribes them. However, waitlists extended the time to five months. It would have been nine months if I hadn't paid for my own therapist.
For SRS, there are two waits built into the WPATH standards, but they usually overlap. You need to be a year on HRT, and you need a year of RLE.

I saw a gender therapist for the first time today went pretty good. She gave me a list of options for how to get on hormones.
I have decided to go on them that it is the best choice for me and will make me happier.
I just have to figure out which way I want to get on them.
