Title: How long on average is the wait from first GIC appointment to starting T?
Post by: Frazer on September 07, 2017, 01:14:13 PM
So I got my referral with a 14 month wait two months ago now. But that's just for the first consultation with the Gender Clinic where I'm assuming they'll properly evaluate and assess me.

It's such a lengthy process though, what I really want to know is how long roughly the wait might be from that first appointment to getting my first T dosage? and what's the procedure for this part of the journey between first appointment and T? I'm UK based if that makes a difference.

Thanks

Frazer

It was about 11 months from the first ever therapist appt. for me. I'm at Exeter, which is supposedly one of the ones with shorter wait times because it  has less patients.

The procedure I experienced was 3 sessions with a therapist and about 3 phone call sessions from the same therapist, a consultation with a senior doctor at the GIC after those to be signed on T and a letter for it was sent to my GP who from then on prescribes a permanent repeating prescription of T for me at my local surgery. After that I was assigned a different supervising doctor at the GIC for 3 sessions to talk about the next stage of the process (i.e. surgery)
