Title: First day out as myself and I passed!! Not even on HRT!!!

Today I came out on Facebook, all went well. Some people asked me nosy questions but nothing bad.
What's more important : I went out as myself today and passed!
With a clean shave, a bit of foundation, eyeliner, clip in hairextensions, a push-up bra to push my gynaecomastia boobs up and a very simple and modest female outfit I was gendered correctly 9 times and not gendered the rest of the time.
Even children gendered me correctly and children are honest about what they see.
Maybe I would pass even better on HRT but for now I don't want to be exposed to all these health risks it carries.
I seam to look girly enough to have a successful social transition.

When HRT is properly monitored by a doctor, the health risk are minimal. If you desire HRT, you should discuss it with a doctor and learn the truth about it. When you read on the internet can be out of date or written by somebody with an ax to grind.

Sometimes we're the ones with the axe to grind, unfortunately. Transphobic people tend to overstate the risks of HRT. Transgender people sometimes understate them. If minimal means "you'll probably be fine", then it's true. If minimal means "negligible", then absolutely not.

Hi Transfused
Congrats on your coming out on FB and more so on your excursion out in public. It feels good when you get confirmation of who you believe you are.
As an older transwoman I had real heath concerns with my HRT medications. I already take several medications for other health related issues. Such as being diabetic, having cancer 3 times and due to it missing a kidney, 1/2 of my pancreas and a few surrounding pieces, eye issues and a couple heart issues. Nothing serious right? I take insulin, enzymes to aid digestion, an ace inhibitor and beta blocker and a handful of vitamins besides my HRT. My doctor is well aware of all my medical issues and has found no reasons to keep me from taking my HRT medications. I am monitored well by my GP and my oncologist. I am in good hands.
I believe your fears regarding HRT are just that, "fears": and probably without merit unless you have health issues you have not disclosed. Of course there are risks with HRT meds just as there are for taking any and all medications. That is why you do it under a physician's care and are monitored for effects with lab tests. Consult with a doctor before making decisions concerning HRT needs.
Hugs,
Laurie
