Title: How does micronized progesterone help with curves?
Post by: JennJenn on September 13, 2017, 10:54:03 AM
I've read it helps with breast development, and understand what it does to the breasts etc.  This makes sense to me.

But I've read in more than one place, that it can also help with curves -- anecdotal.

Right now I am not on it.  My estradiol is 117 pg/ml, testosterone is 11 ng/dl, and free testosterone is 0.4 pg/mL.  My natural progesterone is at 0.2 ng/ml.  I have some problems with curves lately, losing weight more from my thighs it seems than my belly.

I wonder if I had the doctor add micronized progesterone, it would help with body fat distribution?

Anyone had any personal experience with this, and/or can relate to me?

Unlikely, with testosterone in control, your estrogen levels are below female normal, so you could up that. I'm now 1¾ years on HRT and have shifted a good bit of fat to my hips. E levels around 220-260 pg/ml

117 pg/ml is female range, is it not?  I started P at 9 months and love it.  It helped me greatly with body shape.

Reference ranges from medscape

Mid-follicular phase: 27-123 pg/mL
Periovulatory: 96-436 pg/mL
Mid-luteal phase: 49-294 pg/mL

Thanks for the replies. Btw, my T is far from being in control.  It's almost non-existent.

I'd really like to know *why* progesterone can help one with their curves.  I have seen people say this, I just would like to know the science behind it.

According to my Dr. there is no science behind it.  She did put me on progesterone though as I asked for it.

Progesterone promotes fat accumulation and storage. This is why you get more curves while on it, IF you are also taking estrogen as the fat goes to the "right" places.
