Okay I know this is not a raging social issue. I had a Gingerbread Martini at Outback Steakhouse last night. Actually several, but anyway they are sooooo gooood. Im now an addict...does anyone know how they make them. I tried asking the server and the bartender, but even after I batted my eyelashes and smiled they would only tell me the same thing that is printed on their menu. I tried mixing my own when I got home, but either the portions aren't right or they are holding something back.

I think their ingredients are Vodka, Baileys, Goldshalger and Kahlua. I have not made a GB martini before but I was a bartender for many years and this is how I would make it with the given ingredients.
1 oz Vanilla Vodka (Stoli or Absolut) Something premium
1 1/2 oz Baileys
1 1/2 oz Kahlua
1 1/2 oz Goldshlager
Shake well on ice then strain and sprinkle with some nutmeg if you have it!!
Try that and let me know how that turns out.

Here is a recipe I got from foodnetwork.com.
1 shot vanilla vodka
1 shot hazelnut-flavored liqueur (recommended: Frangelico)
1/2 shot butterscotch schnapps
4 ounces ginger beer (recommended: Reed's Ginger Brew)
Float dark rum
Ice cubes
Gingerbread man cookie (recommended: Pepperidge Farm), for garnish
Pour first 4 ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain into high ball glass or any 8-ounce glass filled with ice. Top with ginger beer. Pour a little dark rum over the back of a spoon and float on top of the ginger beer. Garnish with a gingerbread man cookie.

I've tried making these myself....thanks for the recipes by the way....but so far I haven't quite got it right. Oh well, back to Outback for more research. Who knew science could be fun.
