Title: HRT, Scars, &... Collarbones?
Post by: JessiCalypsoƸ̴Ӂ̴Ʒ on October 04, 2017, 07:45:28 AM
So I've looked up a ton of "Will HRT change such & such," like pretty much every body part, & I've found info for just about everything... Except collarbones. This doesn't really surprise me, as I've yet to meet someone w/ collarbones like me. They & my shoulders are quite unusual... I can actually reach behind my back w/ my left hand & grab my left shoulder blade (kinda neat, so I posted pics below, but a heads up- it's also pretty weird). Anyway, the bones in the area stick out something wicked, & always have... even during the times in my life when I've been very muscular or overweight there's been little change. So I figured I'd ask here & see if anyone noticed any sort of change in this area... It's really the only area I'm self conscious about, I'm afraid it'll look weird and manly when I wear tanks or dresses w/ straps... especially with the burn scars you can see on my chest/right shoulder in the 1st pic... Which brings me to part 2 of my question: since HRT softens the skin so dramatically, does it do anything to fade scars? Or does anyone know something that will?? Ive been using vitamin E oil, & it's helped... but I just want it to go away... especially the long "drip" that goes down to my tummy, as it passes right by or over where my left breast may end up being... I was assaulted w/ boiling milk at the end of August; I won't go into why here, as it still hurts, long after the burn itself has healed.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171004/fc61876550d136bd0fb383321bb0a2cb.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171004/06701b1a72044e5eaccd392c566b23b7.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171004/f8b17fafb0f3667030fcdee700ddd5e8.jpg)

Your bones are normal for any person, male or female, with both low bodyfat and low muscle mass.  The only way to make the bones less prominent is to add either fat or muscle.

In your case, from the pictures provided, it looks like you could add both to improve your health and make the bones and tendons less prominent.

Well that's the thing, it doesn't seem to matter how fat or muscular I get, they've ALWAYS stuck out, even back when I was very overweight (when I was 12 or 13 I weighed 225). I used to have quite large, well-muscled shoulders too (digging/shovelling has been a major part of every job I've had); & if anything, it just made them appear more prominent. I'm curious if HRT & the redistribution of fat will make a difference, since nothing else has... But you're definitely right, I need to gain weight in order for ANY positive changes to occur... It's been hard tho, as I have an INSANELY fast metabolism, despite being on methadone... Most people GAIN weigh on it, but not me; I LOSE weight. It takes away my appetite. I lost 40 lbs in the 1st 4 months I was on it... I've since gained back 15 lbs, but I've def gotta gain some more!

Hi, Jessi

That's interesting. I can easily grasp both shoulder blades as well, but they only stick out when I twist my arms behind me and up. When I move within the "normal" motion range they lie quite flat.

Where the collarbones are concerned, I've heard that exercising the platysma helps mold, tone and smooth the entire area including the neck. I don't know how true the information is, but that's all I know about the subject...
