Title: Gender-fluid & contemplating top surgery
Post by: luminated247 on October 13, 2017, 11:09:12 PM
Hi there everyone,

I identify as gender-fluid, although I live my life as my born female gender. I have decided not to go on hormones (T) although I'm considering top surgery.

I'm having some doubts about this as I will be presenting as a female although I will have no breasts, only a male chest. I don't have any attachments to my breasts & would feel a sense of 'lightness' if they were removed, however I also don't have a very strong need to remove them, it's more of an overall preference.

My main concern is subjecting myself to the surgery risks & alienating myself more on a social level. I'm already an introverted geek & my concerns are having them removed could place me more outside the confines of society, which I already exist on. I don't live my life concerning myself w/ the opinions of others but I also don't want to make my life even more challenging, esp dating/socially.

I would love to hear your opinions, esp from those who are living as a female but had top surgery, and how life is going for you  :)

Welcome to Susan's Place. Some CIS women have breast reduction surgery while others are naturally flat chested so I doubt that socially what you are considering would be much of an issue. The FTMs sometimes have chest surgery before starting T so that wouldn't be an issue. The only issue I can see would be finding a therapist you is agreeable to providing the proper documentation as the non binary isn't as well understood as the binary.
