keep in mind that this is humor, at not aimed at anybody. In this, "silver platters are a metaphor".
It seems to me that many liberals expect everything on a silver platter.
It seems to me that many conservatives are buying up the entire supply of silver platters.
It seems to me that the rest of us (if we became eligible to receive a silver platter), we would be screwed out of it, scammed, and placed on junk mail lists.

It wouldn't be aimed at anybody if you had written this:
"It seems to me that many people expect everything on a silver platter.
It seems to me that many people are buying up the entire supply of silver platters."
