Title: Issues with Work Uniform
Post by: EvaMarie on November 05, 2017, 12:44:11 AM
So, not that I pass anyway, but the uniform I need to wear to work makes it even worse. I work with people all day, and get misgendered a lot. It's a basic chef uniform cause I work in a deli at a grocery store. It just sucks that so much of my day I taken up being dressed in a way that doesn't help me pass. I am allowed to wear skirts and besides the uniform I dress 100% female but that's all behind a counter and customers can't see it. I need to rely on my face (which is terrifying). I'm not sure I can continue at my current job because this will never get better.  :'(

First, welcome to Susan's place.

Second, I feel the same about my looks.  My uniforms do the same to me, not that there's much difference, I'm a cook at a nursing home.

Makeup should provide sufficient gender cue, I hope you're allowed to use it. Also, nails, hair and voice training. If uniform can be colored - then wear pink or flower-patterned uniforms.
