Title: A quick introduction

I just wanted to say hello, and say a bit about who I am and why I'm here.
I'm 41, born male, but I finely have a very strong female side. It's something I've known since I was a child, and had kept hidden for a very long time, but over the past year I've learned to embrace her and move forward.
I'm still not 100% sure if I'm trans, non-binary, or how it all fits together, all I know is that I have a certain sense of peace and "correct" when I look in the mirror and see a woman looking back.
My wife and son have both been quite supportive, and I have a great therapist that have all helped me explore who I am. But I'm reaching a point of "what's next", as I continue to explore and expand my feeling of my gender.

Hello Phoenix, welcome to Susan's!
I had a similar path in having a strong desire before puberty, suppressing it for a few decades (in my case hiding behind alcohol and other habits), then realizing I needed to do something about this and get on with truly enjoying life. I am glad you have a good therapist. I wish I had talked to one sooner (and wish I had found Susan's Place sooner).
During the time when I wasn't sure I tackled hair removal. I figured even if I never transitioned at least I wouldn't have to scrape my face every morning - and once I solved that, other decisions were easier. I have GRS surgery scheduled for January, breast augmentation next May. The main thing is we each set our own path, do what will give you the most long term happiness.
Great to see you here!
Kendra

Interestingly enough, for our anniversary my wife got me hair removal. Even though I'm not a very beardly person, I'd still find myself avoiding being Sarah because it means a close shave and makeup to cover the shadow.
What scares me is the "what's next". When this process first started, I thought I'd be happy in a kind of "half transition" - where I have a strong female side, but still have my male side. But as I've pushed things more feminine, I've realized that I want to push even further, and the more I think about it the more I think a full time transition is my ultimate goal.
But, I guess that's what my therapist, and these forums are for - so I don't have to make that trip alone.
And for the record, I'm Dave by day, but as far as I'm concerned, here I'm Sarah.

Quote from: MaryT on November 20, 2017, 02:59:22 PMThanks. The idea for the name actually came as I was thinking about what to get for my next tattoo - I wanted something that represented change or rebirth, for Sarah. Oddly enough I didn't end up getting a phoenix, but the name stuck as a username for Sarah.
