  • Still seeing dude in mirror (currently)

In my opinion, next to relationships, this is the hardest/cruelest aspect of MtF transition.  For me it was a simple change in hair style that helped me to see Denise in the mirror. All I did was move the part in my hair 1 inch too the side.

  • [8/2016 Crisis level dysphoria, joined Susan's, started therapy]

  • Huge catharsis in therapy, figured out the problem, embraced what I am

  • Therapy progressed, dysphoria coming under control

  • Resumed meditation practice, dysphoria further controlled

  • 1/2017 purged feminine effects

  • 2/2017 regrets...

  • 3/2017--onward: status quo, no better, no worse

Sounds pretty grim as I write this summary.

  • Did a whole lot of research on gender identity and found myself, finally
  • Quit making up excuses after 4 years of avoiding being trans
  • Recognized my mental illness and worked through it
  • Became engaged to my gf, and came out to her as trans
  • Chose my new name, even though I have yet to change it legally
  • Recently went to a Universalist church for the first time, and introduced myself with my male name!
  • I've come so far in terms of being and feeling masculine, and accepting myself as a man.  Finally feel like I'm getting on with my life.

(2011) chose my femme name
(2016)
Jan - started HRT, out at work, told GF, attended my 2nd to last orgy with a shenis
Mar - (re)joined Susan's after 17 years hiatus
May - contacted Dr Satterwhite
Sept - tried stopping estrogen for a month, resumed and added progesterone
Oct - phone consultations with Drs Satterwhite and Wittenberg, began scheduling for April 2017
Nov - contacted Oates & Slama
Dec - consultation with Oates, firm date with Heidi Wittenberg, sexuality back on track and improving

2017
Jan - last orgy with shenis, made final decision to proceed with GCS
Mar - a month of details in prep
Apr 25 - collect prescriptions, fly to SFO
Apr 26 - GCS, 2.5 hours give Heidi handmade goblet in thanks for beautiful work
May 3 - first gyn appointment (surgeon)
May 18 - fly home
Jun 1 - first day back blowing glass
Jun - rock climbing
Jul 23,24 - first time back on bicycle, first receptive PIV sex with GF
Aug - first swim post-op
Oct - first gyn appointment
Nov - granulation tissue finally gone
Dec - have kept off the 15 lbs lost post op and continuing to lose some weight

Maybe I should wait for the end of year but here's what's coming up for the rest of the month.

We have a sex date with my GF's fwb, I fully expect to have my first penetrative sex with a male partner this Sunday! I'm feeling excited about this, it's casual and as I don't especially want an emotional connection with a guy I feel this is a pretty good way to "lose my virginity" as it were. This should also be my first opportunity for receiving cunnilingus as soon far my GF hasn't been interested in giving that. No other big plans for the winding down 2017 but I'm totally psyched for 2018 :-).
