I have never been asked to fast before giving a blood sample for a hormone test. I have only needed to fast for blood samples taken for annual exams.

The only time you need to fast is when your blood test is for glucose.

If you are getting tested for hormone levels, you should have the blood sample taken right before your next dose in order to get a good trough (lower blood level). If your doctor wants to see the peak hormone level, take the blood sample about one hour after you take your next dose.

All of my blood tests have included glucose so I fast just to get a good value.  Lately I fast everyday anyway so it works well for me.

Time of day also affects hormone levels, testosterone is higher in the morning.

Thank you all.
I had an 8am appointment yesterday and needed to know if I should fast.
After these results are in, I should be able to get started on HRT next week.
My very own Christmas present to myself!
Thanks again!
