Smoked Prime Rib, smashed taters, gravy, 3 vegetables, pumpkin cheesecake. First Christmas with Izzy my Granddaughter. Looking forward to being with loving family. I am so blessed. I hope you all get to celebrate in love, peace and understanding. Hey I think there is a song in there somewhere.

As Alton Brown would say.  Good Eats

Christmas dinner will be roast goose, sausage stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, broccoli cheese casserole and sweetpotato cassarole.  I'm also making green bean casserole for my brother. I totally don't like green bean casserole but he loves it. Ewww!
For dessert I'm making a pumpkin pie, pecan pie and for Tristan I'm making Tim Tams.

this thread has me drooling!!

we never usually cook for Christmas, we always went to my grandma's on x-mas eve and day but this is our first year where she is no longer with us :( my sister is going out of town on sunday, so my mom is having her up on saturday and I'm going to be smoking the meats for it while my mom handles the sides. I'm smoking a ham with a recipe that my mom has that uses crushed gingersnaps, it's really good! I'm also smoking a small turkey breast and I'm going to make a cranberry mustard bbq sauce to go with it, yum!

I forgot new years dinner. I make pork roast, sauerkraut and mashed potatoes.  For dessert I make a German new year cake. It's a three layer cake with poppy seed filling, nut filling and apple filling on the last layer.

I want to do a new york strip roast (I refuse to call it a KC strip) on the smoker and green corn tamales for New Year's dinner.  I'm going to a friend's house for Christmas dinner and will probably bring veggie and cheese enchiladas as there are a few vegetarians that are attending.

I honestly can't decide if that cake sounds amazing or horrifying.

Right now only new years thing I have on the menu is a Creme Brulee Brie (everything is Creme Brulee with me lately). Probably avoiding heavy food and sticking more with party fair (snacks, finger food, dips).

I made a KC Strip Roast last Thursday for dinner.  It was fabulous!!   Good choice, Colleen. ;)

That cake isn't my favorite. But my dad grew up eating it. My dad's parents moved here from Germany right after they got married. My dad grew up eating a lot of traditional German dishes. Some are really good and others not so much. Lol

Hadn't thought about it, I guess today would be a good one to get dragged around a supermarket. . .

I'd rather just sit around eating nuts and tangerines tbh

I'm calling shenanigans. You can't make Tim Tams. That's like a homemade Big Mac that comes on white bread!

I never said they were authentic. There are recipes for them on google and I am going to use one of those. I already made a Tim Tam flavored cheesecake. Yeah, that recipe wasn't very good. Lol.

I know. I just wanted to make him a homemade version. Anyone can buy them from the store. I once made my brother oatmeal cream cookies. You can buy them from any store but he liked my homemade ones better.

Tim Tams sound good, I have never seen them in stores here. But then stores here suck. And I say go homemade! Except for with Oreos. Homemade Oreos are just wrong.

It's the same with Tim Tams. I nearly used the Oreo example myself. Like a Whopper on pumpernickel.
