Title: Transition Blog
Post by: jaakurin on January 07, 2018, 06:47:59 AM
Hello everybody! I'm new here, and in the efforts of helping out the trans community, I have been writing a series in my blog that follows my transition. I hope the month-by-month information in my blog could help someone out there, as it illustrates what it's been like for me to go through hormone therapy. But if nothing else, it's kind of a nice journal to document things :)

Oh, my bad, I'm sorry! I'm barely even been here for an hour and already I've broken a rule! How embarrassing, thank you for being so gracious, Cindy. I will certainly introduce myself ^_^;

So hello everyone! My name is Josie, I'm 27, trans female, and today is the day of my 10th month of my HRT transition! Yep, today is the actual day. I just took my monthly transition pictures, and I'm feeling kind of happy.

I teach digital arts and technology classes at a K-12 school in the Seattle area of Washington State. I have 73 students, so my job eats up a lot of my time and mental capacity. But I also have a tendency to procrastinate on lesson planning by browsing websites like these ;)

I have depression, anxiety issues, PTSD, and a bit of autism... But that's not gonna stop me from being personable! I have been very lucky with the amount of support I've received from my friends, family, and workplace, even as I've been coming out as trans. My romantic partner has been particularly supportive as well... Bless them <3

So I feel like I want to lend help here and there as I can to those who haven't had the support I've had. I find that helping others also oftentimes helps myself.

I'm very open about my transitioning experience (I find it all very exciting), and I try to see the best in people, treating them with a base level of respect until given a reason to do otherwise. Reading the intention behind the words rather than just taking the words at face value tends to help me make a diverse number of friends in varying communities. I'm an INFP (Mediator) personality type, for sure.

I'd also like to add in here that I've been an occasional reader of this site, and the forum community here helped me when I was trying to learn about HRT. It's partly because of this community that I gained the confidence needed to take my first steps into this, and for that, I thank you. HRT has been one of the best things to happen in my life. :)

Hi Josie,

  I'm Laurie, Also a transwoman like you, and not that far ahead of you as far as starting hrt goes. I have been on it for 13 months. Since our friendly administrator has invited you in and left the door open for you, won't you please come in? That's the kitchen  over there through that door where you can find hot coffee, if Devyln hasn't drank it all and not made more that is, Yeah, she's lovable, but somewhat of a rascal. She's our citified ruffian. There should also be hot water for tea if you prefer it. There is a fridge in there too but it's a bit of a risk to get to without getting hit by flying fruit. Why? Well, it's like this... Stephanie (she's just a little thing) was being a bit obnoxious the other day, so I put her up on the fridge until she promised to behave. Yeah, she's still up there and she still hasn't learned her lesson.  She found a seemingly endless supply of fruit up there and throws it at anyone that comes near. Faith likes it. You can just see her in the corner over there by the door. She loves eating fruit and needs to put on a little weight anyway, so she sticks her head through the doorway until Stephanie throws another piece of fruit at her. She catches it and eats it right there in the corner. Oh gheeeze, I wish she wouldn't just throw the banana peels and apple cores on the floor like that. I'll have to get the broom and mop out again... I'm always cleaning up the girls' messes around here.
  Would you like to sit down and be comfortable? Here let me move this comfy barrel chair over for you. There, isn't that comfortable? It is V.M.'s She put all those pillows in it, almost making it a nest. She likes to nestle sideways into it with her legs hanging over one side and her head at the other.
  Who? Oh that's Dena. We have to keep and eye on her. She has this thing for moving things around. Sometimes it is difficult to find things once she's been here. I'm always having to rearrange the furniture after she's been here. I'm still looking for Kendra's settee. I wouldn't be surprised if Dena took it home with her.
  Kendra? Oh she's sweet, really nice and a special person. Only problem is, we never know when or where she is going to turn up next. When someone sneaks around in secret and suddenly pops up surprising you, we call that "pulling a Kendra". Stephanie coined that one. Yes, the same Stephanie that is up on the fridge.
   Well that's just a few of the denizens of Susan's and I haven't even gotten into the international girls. There are many more here you will get to know as you settle in.  Again welcome to Susan's Place.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Josie, glad to hear so much with your transition has been positive - and this particular comment you made fits exactly into my mindset:
