I had an orchiectomy early last month, and haven't had any male issues since, until now. I was also on lupron before this, which already had my T levels at 0. So, I haven't had to deal with erections for awhile.

For whatever reason, I woke up with a full on erection this morning, even though my T factory was removed. How. Is. This. Possible!?

What about before your orchiectomy?  When you were on HRT and androgen blockers before your surgery, did you ever wake up with an erection back then?

Testicles are not in control of erections. Blood flow is. Testicles make sperm.

It happened sometimes, but that is because my T levels were always high, and in the the male range. The lupron definitely stopped that though, and then 2 months later I had the surgery.

Hi Dawn,

Could you explain this more?  When I've increased my dose I've definitely had a harder time with this.  Is this more of a mental thing?

Huh, I thought the testosterone was what told the blood to go down there or something, as erections stop for most people when the T is gone.

This sounds accurate.

Erections are controled by blood flow, which very related to arousal, which is conected to T. I have woken up with erections after certain dreams....

T is not as important to libido and sexual function as some people seem to think. Estrogen can also act to replace the missing T. Not everyone has an issue with loss of function, and I'm not convinced loss of function is entirely caused by hormones, there's a large and fairly quiet group of us who maintain function even at female levels.

Zero T should never be the aim, as even women need some testosterone, in small amounts - your adrenal glands will still be producing some. Don't panic, it's fine, your body will use it for various things that are not related to your penis.

Thank you for the information. I was worried I had some rare thing going on, as no one seemed to talk about this happening to them.

When a man becomes sexually aroused, the arteries that carry blood to his genitals enlarge, while the veins that leave the genital area constrict, allowing less blood to escape. This uneven rate of blood flow increases the quantity and pressure of blood flow and traps it in the genital area. This pressure is responsible for producing an erection and making the testes swell to be 25-50% larger than their normal size. If an orgasm is achieved, the blood vessels will return to their normal size and the volume of blood in the genitals quickly returns to its normal level. By contrast, if a man does not have an orgasm, blood in the genitals builds up through a process called vasogongestion and may create sensations of heaviness, aching, or discomfort.

I've seen a number of porn models who've had ortho and still obviously get massive erections-- at least for the, probably, brief time they did modeling. This is clearly not an unusual thing and probably even be controlled to some extent.

After orchiectomy it is more likely to get erections then wen you are in anti androgens  being Spyro and other anti androgens block the T receptors once you get gelded and no longer take an AA this stops and you will start getting morning wood at times again and find it easer to get wood wen turned on 

Ciswomen get engorged down there when turned on, maybe you were just naturally turned on?

Evidently, that is not completely true. Just because someone might wake up with morning wood, does not mean that person will masturbate until ejaculation. Certainly, that does not mean they will developed penile problems as a result.

Your erection should be less hard and the erection not long lived with no T in your system. T makes the erections harder and sustained.

I am post op and not on T. I was advised to go on T and shoot for 40 NG/DL which is the low end of female. It has been 14 months since GCS and I think I will experiment with T on a cycle toward the lend of my E IM cycle. My libido is very low.

Sorry you didn't understand. Nowhere did I say you have to masterbate. It does say orgasim  in most cases not masterbate but nocturnal emissions. Better known as a wet.dreams. I promise you you do not have to masterbate to make it happen. Hugs
