Hi good morning, afternoon or evening.
I am a woman of trans experience and 4 months post-op. My original place of birth was in Dordrecht the Netherlands, on May 6 1963. My re-birth was in Durham NC on October 4 2017
I came out the closet in 2014 and went full time pretty much in two months time. Christmas day 2014 was my coming out at work, I was already out at family and friends. My story is pretty much the same as everyone of us, but the best I can say is that I was 8 years old when I first knew I didn't fit in the boxes. I do have memories that probably go further back in time, but I have no age/year timeframes to add.
I am married, have 4 children and 3 grand children, all are accepting and loving me. So is my mom and one aunt and uncle. One other aunt and uncle are somewhat neutral, others are not accepting. (which I don't care about) My father has past away many years ago. :(
Oh... I am 54, almost 55. I started my transition in January 1 2015 with 9 months of self meds. In October 2015 I started HRT via my Endo. I am on IM estradiol injections since may 2017, and on oral progesterone.
I live in Richmond Virginia and I am a member of the local support group JRTS.
Hugs, Erin

Welcome Erin! I'm Jessica a transgender woman that is, in respect to you, just beginning. Your experiences will give many here support and knowledge, which are the most important aspects of help.

Welcome Erin,
Congratulations on all of the successful aspects of your transition. Many of us here hope to have similar experiences. I am out to a few select family members and am just waiting for a good time and perhaps to be a little further down the road in my own transition before telling them (maybe starting hrt). Thank you so much for sharing your story, it gives the rest of us hope and courage.

Thank you Jessica and Julie for the kind words.
I will do the best I can to help our community with information that I know. Of course that's limited to my own experience, but you never know.
I remember starting out. I thought of myself as the "ugly ducking". Not belonging anywhere. I had no real place to go and I was glad someone helped me to come in contact with others in a support group. That's how I learned a lot of things and I was pointed ibn the right direction for a correct transition. I now want to share this with others that need direction or help. That's how I feel... giving back to our community as you wish.
We have to help and support our own, with love.

Right on sister! Even though I am early in my transition, I feel the same exact way. I wouldn't be where I am if not for some very brave women posting videos about their experiences on youtube. I plan on doing the same thing (have already recorded 2 videos), I am just waiting until I come out at work before posting them. Thank you so much for your altruism!
Hugs,
Julie
