Hi All,
I am on track for SRS at the end of this year with OHSU and Dr.Dugi,.... its been a long wait.
I am hearing a few good things about Dr.Dugi, but not very much so far.
I have done a search, can't really find much.
I know he has only been doing it a couple of years.

I know this sounds crude, but could anyone describe their results, (or if brave enough send me a pic (in private))
Does he use the urethra to line the labia and or part of the vagina?
Does he hood the clit?
Is it a single phase operation or two?
What are the aesthetics like?

I sit here in my convalescence bed 1 week from surgery with him. He is a good surgeon. It will be a few months before I can say that things will work right, but so far so good.

Here is a girl who seem to be having issues I follow some  of her live hangout videos.

I had surgery with Dr. Dugi over a year ago (I was one of his early surgeries). Both the surgery and recovery went well, and everything looks and works the way it should. In addition, Dr. Dugi is a kind, compassionate man who truly cares about his patients and their outcome.

OHSU has also recently implemented a program where former patients will visit you pre- and post-surgery. Talk to their transgender care coordinator if this is of interest.

As I'm sure you're aware, compliance to the dilation schedule is very important. Dilating three times per day for months is tiring, exhausting (mentally and physically) and sometimes just plain sore. Do it anyway!

Tina - is your video of the poor gal who had the recto-vaginal fistula?  Karen Payne told me about her the first time we met.  Very scary stuff of course, but even Marci Bowers has run into this kind of trouble:  When sex realignment surgery goes wrong (http://www.thescavenger.net/sex-gender-sexual-diversity/queer-diversity/313-when-sex-realignment-surgery-goes-wrong-93746.html).  For whatever reason that page doesn't mention Marci by name, just Dr. Biber's successor = Marci Bowers.  These things unfortunately happen sometimes.  Perhaps Dugi just had some very bad luck right at the start?  That web page isn't some kind of hit piece either, it's very well written and thought out, and note that the patient doesn't hold a grudge against Marci - she just wishes that more surgeons had the training to deal with these complications when they arise.  How often that happens I'd like to know.

Interestingly enough Dugi has specialist training in recto-eurethral fistulas - the corresponding male dilemma.  I don't know if that translates directly to GCS procedures, it would be a good question to pose.  Dugi is coming to this as a urological surgeon, after all ; Marci was just an obstetrician before being trained by Biber. 

For those of us in Oregon with low incomes our options are limited.  Someone like me with Providence insurance said their GCS copay was about $4k, which is something I could swing, I don't earn jack.

How long were your wait times, Cynthia/Felix?

How long were you in the hotel after your 6 day stay?
I am in Honolulu, so the less time in Oregon the better

My wait time was not long for my original appointment because as soon as I found out that Dugi was doing the surgery and my insurance would cover it back in January of last year I had an appointment fast. But due to life being a whore I had to cancel my original surgery date for June of last year to Feb of this year. I would have preferred earlier, but when I was offered my birthday I said I would take it and no need to find an earlier date was necessary. I recognize the work of the Goddess when I see it. :)

I staid in Portland for an additional week at my in-laws home. They have a couple of spare bedrooms and they are supporting of my transition. So I was able to avoid a hefty hotel and restaurant bill due to my transition.

I am in Washington state. I do not know if Washington state insurances are still covering work by Dr. Dugi as there is now Dr. Stiller (sp?) in Pullman WA who is doing SRS and he accepts many of the insurances in WA state.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply -- I don't check the forums very often anymore.

My surgery was one stage with no additional surgery necessary or desired. Everything was fine after the swelling went down.

I had surgery on Monday and went home on Sunday. I could have gone home a day earlier but I got very dizzy when they tried to get me up and walking on Saturday. Luckily I was able to pee so I didn't have to go home with a catheter in place.

After going home I was resting for a little over a week until my first follow-up appointment. Dr. Dugi told me to take 1,000 or less steps per day (which basically means walking to the bathroom and meals). I didn't use stairs and avoided exertion which was pretty easy because I tired easily.

I would highly recommend that you stay in Portland until at least a few days after your first follow-up appointment. I didn't begin dilating until after the first appointment (Dr. Dugi does this differently than every other surgeon) and I think it would be helpful to stay around until you are comfortable with this process. It will also give you more time to recover -- I don't think I could have sat in an airplane seat for six plus hours (even with a donut) a week after surgery.

Asked to get put on the cancel list. You might have to go suddenly with little warning. You might not get a chance until your time comes around.

I am at 39 days post-op with Dr. Dugi and I am very happy with the results! I highly recommend him. I do have pictures on my website for those wanting to see my results.
