Title: 30,000 Hairs in Beard? 30 sec per hair? 10.41 Days to clear DIY?
Post by: Asakawa on February 17, 2018, 10:23:20 PM
30(Seconds Per Hair)*30,000 (Hairs) = 900000 Seconds total to remove beard
900000 (Seconds) / 60 (Seconds in 1 Minute) = 15000 Minutes
15000 (Minutes) / 1440 (Minutes in 1 Day) = 10.416666667 (Days to Clear Beard)

+ Errors/Misses/Failures = Under 1 month to fully remove beard?

So, I am bad at math, but reading online it seems like 30 seconds per hair follicle, once you got your skill down, seems pretty good. If that is right above then it would take 10 days and a half (With out sleep or , food lol) to clear facial hair? Doesn't seem so bad except for the part about not resting, sleeping, or eating :).

15000 Minutes / 60 (Minutes in 1 Hour) = 250 hours

If you spend 4 hours every day for hair removal DIY you should be done in 62.5 days? or a little over two months?

Talk about being optimistic?

QuoteWages in the United States increased to 22.34 USD/Hour in January from 22.31 USD/Hour in December of 2017. Wages in the United States averaged 10.95 USD/Hour from 1964 until 2018, reaching an all time high of 22.34 USD/Hour in January of 2018 and a record low of 2.50 USD/Hour in February of 1964.

So what if you worked and got paid and used that for electrolysis instead?

22.34 (Hourly Wage) * 250 (Hours of Electrolysis for beard) =5,585 USD
5585−10% (Taxes and other things?) = 5026.5 USD

Average cost per hour for Electrolysis hair removal seems to be about $70/hr.

5,026.5 (Money earned) /70 (Cost per hour of Electrolysis) =71.80  sessions.

So the question would be if the professional electrolysis can clear the beard in 72 sessions worth to about 5,040 USD. That is if you do get paid 22.34 per hour.

QuoteWhen the minimum wage in Los Angeles climbed from $10.50 to $12 an hour for large businesses on July 1,

If you get paid only minimum wage then

10.50*250=2625 USD -10%= =2362.5

2362.5/70=33.75 Professional sessions of electrolysis, so a little bit less than half.

I guess it comes down to how much you get paid for hour and if the pro electrolysis can clear you up in said amount of sessions.

Hi, Asakawa

Yes—that sounds about right in hours worked. However, some of the hairs will be in the dormant phase so while the first clearance can be made comparatively fast, the whole process from start to end will still span at least about a year.

By the way, 30 seconds/hair to me sounds perhaps a bit short for galvanic and long for blend. Using blend I average between six and to a maximum of ten seconds per hair in treatment time, excluding the time required for needle insertion and hair extraction. With flash modality the treatment time is less than one second per hair.

If you want to work on yourself I'd suggest moving to the face only after you've become comfortable with hair elsewhere. Working with mirrors complicates things at least until you're used to it, and it takes some experimentation to know how to confidently determine the optimum settings for each new area. If you have a friend you trust, working on each other is much quicker and more comfortable.

My electrologist told me it took about 500 hours each for the half dozen or so beards she has removed. It's not just guys. She has spent that long working on removing girls' beards too!

Nanci gets between 300 - 400 hairs per hour. She zaps 8-10 hairs at a time and then plucks them out. It's not as painful as when Kristy does them one by one.
