Title: Hello. I think I'm genderfluid.
Post by: Batrachiarch on February 18, 2018, 11:22:33 PM
Hello! I've been poking around this site a little bit for the past couple weeks, and I've decided to take the plunge and introduce myself.

You can call me Batrachiarch, or Bat. I'm male, 27, and I live in the Seattle area. Over the past several years I've been exploring my gender with the help of my girlfriend. I've come to believe I might be gender fluid, but I'm still very unsure what that means for me. I can vary wildly from appreciating my masculine body, to wishing desperately that I had a feminine one, and this can happen over the course of a day or a month. I've got a lot of questions, and I don't know what I want let alone how best to achieve it, so I've decided to start treating this like a personal project.

I've set a sort of deadline for myself. I've decided that if I'm going to start HRT, I want to do so before or shortly after I turn 30. I realize that transition can happen at any age, and it's best not to start unless you're absolutely certain and ready for it. However, I deeply regret that I was not able to explore this possibility when I was younger, before passing puberty, and I don't want to let it go any longer.

I'm planning to find a gender therapist to help me work out what shape my gender takes and how I want to express it. In addition, I'd like to use these forums to talk to more people and draw on as much experience as possible. I appreciate whatever help and advice you're willing to lend.

I'm going to start my first forum topic on the Non-Binary Talk board, about how being gender fluid fits into daily life. I hope to see you there!

Hi Bat!  Welcome to Susan's Place!  I'm Jessica.  I identify as gender fluid and non binary.  I feel more on the feminine side, but can swing wildly also.
There are a number of other members from the Seattle area.  I myself was born and raised in Lake City.
A gender therapist is a great start, with the support from Susan's you will do yourself good.
I see your new here, so I'll post some links that may help you get better acquainted with the site.

Hello Bat, welcome to Susan's!

I am MfF in the Seattle area - lived here since 1968, before traffic was invented.  I am not gender fluid but my transition has caused me to really admire those who are, and people who aim to be permanently nonbinary.  After spending some time not firmly in either gender as I worked on my transition I realized half the battle is just accepting myself.  If at all possible smile and enjoy life, and make good long term decisions.

Really glad you're here!
