Title: HRT Changes of Face
Post by: Chelsea on February 28, 2018, 10:27:56 AM
How much will HRT change your face? My therapist told me that it will round it out a little.
Also what kinds of procedures are there for making you look younger?
I'm thinking I will need a facelift unless there is a new way I don't know of.

Hugs,

After 7+ months, my face has rounded a bit.  I had pronounced laugh lines that have diminished.
I've been told that I do look younger, but then again that may come from growing my hair out and shaving the caterpillar off under my nose.
Remember, ymmv!

The reality is that you will probably be disappointed if you put all of your hopes for facial changes in the HRT basket; HRT makes subtle changes, which can feminize a face that is not overly masculine, but otherwise most of us need surgery to pass. And it's just not bone removal that creates a female face; a female face is also dependent on proportions, such as distance between. Your upper lip and the base of your nose, the position of your chin as it relates to your lips, nose, and forehead (a sliding genioplasty will bring your chin forward if it is too far back out of female range); as well as other proportions.

Facelifts, fat transfer, and fillers are used for facial rejuvenation, a board certified plastic surgeon can best advise you of what will work best for you.

It changed mine enough that I pass regularly in gym clothes and without any makeup.  I don't totally see it in the mirror but random people out in public apparently do.

Wrinkles and lines have reduced, my eyes are a different shape, I think because I tend to hold my eyebrows a bit higher, and fat has redistributed. Enough to pass most of the time if I'm onto keeping beard shadow in control. I wouldn't call myself all that pretty or attractive in terms of face, but its not male anymore. :)

My wife and I are both late 50's. She did the Botox/filler approach. I wanted a once and done thing and was considering check implants, but my doctor recommended fat grafting because I am skinny (5'10" 146 pounds).

Hi Chelsea,

I downloaded some pictures for you but...
I put them in the male to female before and after thread. Sorry.
I would put them on here but I can't do it on my phone, I have to be on my computer at home.

Hrt has been pretty amazing for me. Over 3 years and I think there are huge changes.
Hormones can be a mini fountain of youth. I don't know how old I look but I am 48.

Again, I am sorry that I didn't put those pictures here. I wanted to face my fears and do a full timeline, then I was going to put all of my transition photos here. Technology frustrates me, it took forever and then my boyfriend took me out to dinner.

I hope that they help to show you that surgery may not be necessary. 🙂 Honestly, I would fix my nose in a heartbeat if I could though.

I started in Jan 2015 at age 55.  So it's just over three years and I'm 58 now.
