Title: Things one should NOT do when dilating
Post by: TechGirl on March 12, 2018, 10:15:49 AM
One should never, NEVER, read anything funny.  Not on facebook, not on the net, not while watching a video.

Just saying...

p.s. first post-op exam, couldn't stop laughing as they inserted the specula, just kept tickling my insides!

It's not good to skip the cough medicine, when it's needed either. Or leave the paper towels slightly out of reach and roll over in a futile (and painful) effort to get it.

Sneezing definitely launches any torpedo in the tube.

Wife suggested putting a suction cup on the end of it.

Definitely shouldn't listen to anyone tell any funny jokes either. Hugs

I'm thinking more like an arcade but instead of shooting ducks, shoot d*cks.

Oh, so I'm not the only one who has launched that thing on a ballistic trajectory.  Good to know!

Oh heck there are so many inappropriate things I could say in this thread...dart boards, appropriate targets, special points for style...the list is never ending  ;) ;)

Maybe you need to add "reading this thread" to things NOT to do [emoji3]

Things not to do when dilating?  Gawd! Where do I start?   ;D  Here's one - forgetting to keep the phone next to you, having it ring, trying to get up to answer it, and forgetting that you SHOULD NOT BEND when you're dilating.  OUCH!!!  Thankfully I learned my lesson when that happened to me (back in early 2004, 3 or 4 months after my SRS), and didn't do any serious damage to myself (I luckily didn't bend too much).  Needless to say, since then, I keep the phone within arm's reach, when I'm dilating.

HappyMoni - definitely NOT sneezing!  Coughing is another one.   :)

I was at work one day dilating in my little room when the fire alarm went off. I got my self together only to hear, "False Alarm" on the speaker. So don't dilate during a fire drill.

Especially not if the caller might say, "Hey, what are you up to?"

I have one client (I do software consulting/development) that at least 3 or 4 times a week, he calls me whenever I'm dilating. Even when my times vary by a few hours he manages to call when I'm dilating.

If I remember right, it was my mom.  :)

She had a tendency to call almost every day for three or four months after I got back from my SRS in Thailand.  Yeah, the timing might have kind of sucked, but considering that I was estranged from her and my dad for 3 plus years, till shortly before I had my SRS, I was more than happy to speak to her (I'm still close to my mother to this day, I miss my dad - RIP).  If she calls while I'm dilating (not very common anymore, since I don't need to dilate anywhere near as much as I had to at the time I made my little boo boo), I just say I'm performing some post-operative maintenance/care (like I said, I learned my lesson - I keep a phone nearby when I dilate).

I switched to coconut oil for lubricant and now needed to add no cats in the room. Mine smelled the coconut oil and now displays addict behaviour, seeking it more vigorously than catnip. She's clawed the bag I kept things in, swarms me when I open the new, clawproof bag and tries to 'clean' my dilator for me. No way, not good.
