Title: Small Update on Progress
Post by: CrystalMatthews0426 on March 16, 2018, 12:54:28 PM
Haven't posted in a while, hopefully I'll start getting better at that soon.  A couple of updates on upcoming dates for me.

In a week and a half, I'm having weight loss surgery. I'm super excited, my doctor and his staff are amazing. I will be getting the sleeve gastrectomy; which means they will be cutting out a portion of my stomach, making it impossible for me to eat as much as I have been.  I started my pre-surgical diet on 1/1 and lost 25 pounds up until this past Monday. Monday I began a liquid only diet for 2 weeks before surgery, all of my meals consist of protein shakes and water right now, it sucks but I'm getting used to it. Down 10 pounds in the last 5 days alone (35 in total) and most reports estimate about a 25 pound loss during the liquid only diet.

Now for the transition updates... As per my weight-loss surgeon, I'm allowed to start taking supplements and hormones starting 2 weeks after surgery. From my previous visit with the endocrinologist, I know that she will be prepared to start me on hormones at the time of my next visit, so I decided to make my appointment for my birthday... April 26.  So barring any issue with my insurance, or inventory problems at my local pharmacy, I should be starting hormones in just 6 weeks.

I will try to start being more active on here and keep updates on my journey.  I am so ridiculously excited for what the next 2 months has in store.

Good luck to you and I know you want to start hormones ASAP.  How much more weight do you want to lose?

I would love to lose another 100 pounds or so. I'm currently at 290, according to the Body Mass Index, at my height (6'2), I should weigh between 145-190.  I should be able to achieve that within the next year and a half following surgery.

Keep at it... set good long term goals, and be sure to also appreciate everything you have right now.  I am looking forward to your future!

Small update from this post... I am now 9 days post-op for my gastric sleeve surgery. I've lost just under 60lbs since I started dieting in January. I feel great and have so much more energy then I have in years.

In 3 weeks, I'm seeing my endocrinologist for my final appt before starting hormones. I am so beyond excited, these last few weeks and upcoming few weeks is really the start of a whole new life for me. I finally see the version of me that I've been dreaming of for so long and I cannot wait for her to finally become a reality.
