Susan's Place Transgender Resources

Hi, This is great forum there's so many people on here and so much stuff to talk about. I have already made a few posts on here but I haven't actualy introduced myself yet.
I am Tamara And I am a 17 year old MtF Transgender. I live in a village in Leicestershire in England. I have not yet transitioned but I plan to around June 2008. I am about to begin facial laser hair removal and I have a psychiatrist appointment in January. I feel That I am at the point where I need to do something about it to fulfill my dream of becoming a woman.

I have known pretty much all of my life that I am in the wrong body and that I should have been a girl. Have always wanted to be a girl, and to do what they do, I've always hated being male and the male role that goes with it, it's just not for me. Sometimes as a kid I used to get picked on a bit for not being like the other boys, so I then began to cover this up and I started to act steriotypically male, I had to act like a tough guy. It may have stopped people picking on me but I hated doing it, it just felt wrong. But when I finnished compulsary school and I went into 6th form, all those people that would pick on people left so I then started to slowly let myself become more femminine, I started to let myself become me.

In February 2007 I cam out to my mum about this, originally she was really supportive, for about a day. Then she started to say "It's just a phase" and now she just seems to deny it and we never talk about it. Then In November I decided that I am just going to have to do this alone and I went to the doctor (without telling my mum) and the doctor reffered my to a psychiatrist. I also arranged a consultation for facial laser hair removal. I have also recently came out to some of my friends, however I'm not sure if they believe me.

I plan to transition around June 2008 and start university as a girl.

Some of my hobbies include playing computer games, and playing guitar. I am also a big Rock/Metal music fan and my favorite bands include Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, Guns n' Roses and Bon Jovi

   England?  Isn't that south of Nebraska?

   I'm happy that those jerky kids left your school.  I'm happy for you that you seem to know your path and you are doing the necessary work to get started.  I'm sorry to hear about your mother, but that's a mother for you.  I'm sure she'll come around.  She probably just needs some adjustment time.

  I want you to know that I really did respect you up until the point you mentioned you like Bon Jovi.  (I'm kidding with you).

   I'm sure you'll make some good friends here and you'll have the support of people who really do care about you.  Us elderly creaky ones really truly love to see you young ones coming into your own.

Hi, Tamara, and welcome to Susan's!

It sounds to me that you have looked into yourself sufficiently to know what you need and how to pursue it and that is in itself a large step.  It's a good decision to see a psychiatrist as soon as you can.

Please feel free to share your views and ask your questions.  I have more creaks than Rebis but my mind is still pretty sharp!  LOL!
