Title: Robyn's Roundabout
Post by: RobynTx on March 21, 2018, 12:56:48 PM
So for the last week and a half I've been out of my Spiro due to various reasons.  The last few days I've felt like my T levels have been raising and losing some of the femininity things that I value so much.  Today I had my first laser hair removal appointment and it was fast.  Talk about wham bam thank you ma'am. After the appointment was finished I called my pharmacy and my Spiro was ready.  My E patches is another matter but I'm good on those.  Come home poured a glass of water and took my pill.  It will take a few days to get it back into my system.  It was great not having to pee every 30 minutes.

Next week I go in for more blood work and after that I travel to Austin (glad the bomber is no longer bombing) and do a face to face with my clinician at Planned Parenthood.  Hopefully we can do something other than the patch if they increase my E dosage.  Or find a patch with a higher dose in it.  My butt can hold only so many patches till I won't need to wear panties.

On a side note my spouse and I are having our 20 year anniversary next week. We are traveling to Dallas to Medieval Times in April to celebrate.  She found me the cutest medieval blouse to wear.  I can't wait for it to arrive.  Hopefully it won't explode.  But next week on the actual date I'm going to make dinner and we are going to eat out on the porch.  It will be fun, weather permitting.  I mean it is Texas after all.

So how is everyone else doing?

Well, Robyn, that is a nice "good-news" report and update.  I am so glad that your Laser thing went well... usually not that fast but perhaps they were just making certain that your skin didn't adversely react ... I know that subsequent appointments may possibly take longer.

Oh, that is good that you got your Spiro again....   you certainly want to keep that circulating in your system.

Congratualations on your 20 year wedding anniversary... in this day and age that is certainly becoming a record time to be married to the same person.

That sounds great... making dinner and eating on the porch.  Fortuanately where you are, the big, cold, snowy stormy weather is skipping over you and going further northeast.  I saw on the television news that New York City got pounded with snow this morning.

I won't be able to eat dinner on my porch for another couple months....
last night here where I live it got down to -2 deg F and the high today will be perhaps 20 deg F and snow and ice on the ground and more cold and snow coming for the next week or more.   I think that the memo about Spring season beginning yesterday never got to the weatherman here.

Have a good day today and please keep your updates coming.

Thank you. Yeah seeing other people hitting the 20 year mark is getting rare.  I have to admit that does make me sad.  It's like people view marriage as only a temporary thing these days.  I'm not saying people should stay in bad marriages, especially in abusive ones.

Ugh, I hate cold weather.  That's why I live in Texas.  I spent part of a winter in Montana and I'm good now.

I enjoy reading your posts as well.

So much has happened this week.  Well, actually not really but for me they have been plentiful.  So yesterday was my 20th anniversary with my wife. Since it was on a weekday we just went out to dinner.  We went to Red Lobster and I dressed up a little bit.  Just skinny jeans, high heel ankle boots and a maroon blouse.  I put a little bit of make up on.  My wife wore her new Tardis dress.  Dinner went very well.  The waitress addressed us both as ma'am.  At the end she asked if the bill was together or separate. That was different.  We don't know if we should expect that for now on or what.

Next weekend we are heading to Medieval Times in Dallas for the true anniversary date.  Our tunics arrived and I love mine.  I just need to find some good black leggings to wear.  Actually I have plenty of them but I could always use another pair.

Today I have my first appointment with my stylist.  He is going to help me some with make up, mainly foundation.  Plus he is going to do my eyebrows.  Then I have to run out to the fossil pit and check to see how muddy it is.  We are having a big fossil hunt out there Saturday and if it is too muddy from all the rain then we will have to cancel it.  I hope not.  My oldest son loves going out there with the group.

So how is everyone else doing?

@ Robyn: Thanks for writing about your exciting week.   It sounds like that you had a very nice time with your wife on your 20th Wedding Anniversary....   oh, and it is neat that you went in female mode too....   and the server must have thought that you were two women friends out to dinner.   That must have been very self-assuring for you.  Did your wife mention anything about that and how you were dressed to you after dinner?    No Picture ? :(

Well, the Medieval Times event should be exciting.... and a perhaps posting a picture chould be a requirement!!!!

Hmm, quite a mix of events today for you.... going to a stylist... makeup, eyebrows, etc.. (another picture opportunity maybe?)  ... then mucking around in the Fossil Pit !!!.....  it sounds like it will be a nice outing with your son on Saturday.

Now, about me:  My days this last few weeks and several weeks ahead are less exciting for sure.  I am a CPA and I have my own business that I pretty well run by myself so of course the April 15th IRS Tax Deadline is approaching and I am just swamped preparing tax stuff for my clients... and as April 15th edges closer I will get even busier... there are so many folks that wait until the very last minute to do these things....  but busy is good!!  I need the business.

You may have read in some of my other postings in other threads that I have been dealing with (now!) 3 male suitors... been out on dinner dates with one of them so far, so that is exciting for me for sure... and a little frightening too!

Still dealing with the cold weather up here probably for another couple weeks.... we never got the memo up here that the Spring Season had started last week on March 20th.

Again Robyn, thanks for writing... I enjoy reading your updates.   .... ( and, obviously,  only post pictures as you feel comfortable doing.)

Wishing your well,
Danielle

I'm not one for pictures that much.  The Medieval Times will though I will.  Besides my face is still red from the eyebrow torture.

Congrats on the three suitors.  Just be sure not to get their names mixed up.  Oh and please be careful.

As for the weather, we got hit with a cold front yesterday.  It got us a lot of rain and knocked the temps into the 60s.

No, I won't mix up their names... I just will call them #1, #2, and #3  ... J/K

About being careful.... I will always remember what my Dad told me when I was a boy....
"If you can't be good, be very careful."
It is a very good motto for sure... but it might be better to just strive to be very good.

Oh I know.  It took me a long time just to post my avatar picture.  I only used that one because that was a great night for me and also my wife.

I call my kids Thing 1, Thing 2, and Thing 3.  Out in public.  They answer.

Oh plus the fossil hunt was canceled because of all the rain we got this week.  I'm kinda disappointed but kinda glad since I'm having so much crap to do this weekend.  My wife wants to buy an alpaca.

Robyn:  When I have been in town I have seen kids wearing t-shirts that denote that same thing.   One family I saw had 5 kids all wearing t-shirts with their own number.  Very cute.

Oh my, have you previously had animals or critters?.... they are a lot of work and you can never leave home for more than a day or perhaps two... more daily commitment and more work than having a baby to take care of.   You can buy the Alpaca wool for a lot less than room and board for an actual Alpaca and there would be no expense of having your own Alpaca to take care of.

Just thinking out loud here.

As for the first post, yes, we have had plenty of animals.  My wife is a zoo keeper so we have had several over the years and most of them were not the regular cat or dog.  We have had chinchillas, sugar gliders, ferrets, snakes, a rat, a tarantula, several birds including parrots, ducks, geese, chickens.  We have mini-horses, had mini-goats, and then a few cats and dogs.  There are a lot more that I haven't mentioned like the turtles, bat, rabbits and such.  Then she has her koi pond and aquariums.

The Pit is the slang term for the Lake Waco Research Area.  It belongs to the Corp of Engineers and after obtaining a free permit you can go out there and collect fossils.  There are certain rules of course but you can find fossils from the late Cretaceous period out there.  I have a rather large collection of shark teeth from there.  You can also find the regular gastropods, bivalves, echinoids, brittle stars, crabs and other marine life from back then.  I've been hunting out there for four years now.  It's my alone away from people time really.

Update:  Last night I did a female rite of passage.  I had my ears pierced. I was nervous and everything plus I made the mistake of going on an empty stomach and very hungry.  Yes it did hurt some but at least it is over with.  Now I have to wait two weeks for this little rings in my ear lobes until I can start picking out cute earrings.  More money to spend.

Today is the day my spouse and I travel to Dallas and go to Medieval Times.  This is the second part of celebrating our 20th anniversary. I can't wait.  And yes Danielle there will be pictures.  At least one.

Next week is going to busy for me.  Along with my four or five shifts at work I have to attend a recert PALS (pedi class) one day and make a trip to Austin to Planned Parenthood for a check-up. I haven't done a visit in over 8 months.  Everything else has been over the phone or getting blood work at my local doctor's office.  Thank goodness they have a good burrito shop down stairs.

I've also joined a new group on Facebook for Transgenders in Texas.  It's different. Talked to another girl that is actually in my town.  I've only seen a few others here in the city and they were always at times I couldn't go and talk to them.  Besides it can be rude if done wrong and that's the last thing I would want to do.

Ok, I'm rambling now so that means I need to go eat some breakfast.

Bye y'all.

@ RobynTx:  It has been over a week since your last update !!!!....  I have been looking forward to you catching us all up on what is going on with your transition journey....  thank you for your posting today.

OH, yes..... getting your ears pierced is a good and positive step in your journey that all that see all will certainly notice.  Along with that is getting eyebrows shaped, manicures resulting in pretty nails and even painted nails for all to see.   Then, as you are aware, there are lots more rights of passage for you to enjoy or possibly endure.   Breast growth and bras and visible breasts under your clothes is initially one of the biggest and boldest rights of passage in my opinion.

Ahhhh, good, I was hoping that you would mention your Medieval Times adventure ..... and goodie... pictures or at least ONE picture that you might post, but only if you feel comfortable doing it.

That is good that you are branching out and finding other transgenders in your local area....  meeting face to face with others that are on similar journeys as your own can be very supportive for all.

An update on your checkup and blood test news would be most welcome ...
Please continue with your updates....  and now, you need to go eat your breakfast!!!
Thanks for posting,
Danielle

Hi Robyn, wasn't it fun getting your ears pierced?  I find myself looking at studs all the time now.  I want to accessorize.  I used to live in Austin which makes me interested in your facebook group too.  Can I lurk?  I have lots of relatives in Texas and feel weird about telling them anything

Got the boobs and loving them.  I do enjoy going to Victoria's Secret and looking at new ones.  I'm already up to a B cup and I'm happy there.  Last weekend my wife wanted to go and look at alpacas.  I didn't want to go but she talked me into it.  I was going to go without wearing a bra but she took one look at me and disagreed with that matter.  I still wear a lot of my old male shirts and even the one I was wearing I was showing quite a bit.  I really didn't feel like putting a bra on that day but ended up anyhow.  Guess the days of going out in public without one is a thing of the past.

Sadly it's a closed group which I can understand.  I don't see why someone from outside of Texas couldn't but I don't know the admins there to know for certain.

Strangely I had never cared for Austin.  I don't know why.  Guess it's the vibe or something.  The odd part is Planned Parenthood has another transgender center in Plano up near Dallas which was one the places I used to live.  I don't know why I didn't pick that one. Austin seemed a better choice I guess.  Oh well.

Closing note:  I didn't do any selfies at Medieval Times.  My wife had someone sitting next to us do a group photo with her phone.  I'll have her send it to me tonight.

What's a good app for posting pictures here? I used to use PhotoBucket but they charge now for some stupid reason.

Today's Update

Wow, had my second laser session today and oh did it hurt.  Last time I was able to sit there the entire time and let the lady do her thing.  Today I had to take breaks for a few seconds.

I was sick last week so I missed my appointment with Planned Parenthood.  So I will make the long trip tomorrow now.  I'm kinda glad it is this week since I have a four day weekend.  I hate having to fill both days off with stuff that keeps me busy and not relax.

Saturday I have to go to a funeral so there will be that stress.  I'm glad that part of the family is cool with me being who I am.  Last time it was very awkward around them, even after they knew.  Most came up and said encouraging words to me and all.

This last month has been so busy and all.  A new company is coming in and we have to do all sort of things to get ready.  I have to gather a bunch of info and then have an interview.  I really hate interviews.

Oh well, that's enough for this update.

Update to the update about my update.  Updated!

So this morning I drove down to Austin to see people at Planned Parenthood. They are amazed at my progress.  The main thing I wanted was to start on microized progesterone. That will start this week.  Then they asked me if I wanted my letter to change my gender and name.  I said um, yeah.  Later in the conversation I found out a doctor that performs SRS recently moved from San Fran to Austin.  So now I may not have to travel far to get my bottom surgery.  So I've been having a great day, then I got home and had to call AT&T about some stuff that hasn't been delivered yet.

Oh well,  it's been a good day.

I love that Austin has gcs now.  I think all of us are progressing more than we think.  I was told I looked beautiful this morning by a clerk and I was all giddy, I don't even get ma'amed so this was a treat indeed.  Ooh, new phone huh?  Me too, phone twins:)

I got the Samsung 9 and I'm back and forth on liking it.  I use the camera quite a bit and the new slow motion feature is one feature that I do not like.  Also it has a feature that if you don't answer a call and send them a text message instead you get a snooze alarm reminding you to call them back.  I really don't like this.  I need to go in and figure out how to turn it off.

Also I'm having issues with the Vudu app.  It will never download a movie.

Other than that I like it.  I'm loving the health feature in it.

Aha, yes that is a nice phone, great features and color choices.  Really good audio too in that one along with the camera.  Good choice with that one.  My main consideration this round was size.  The Samsung S9 is almost exactly the same size as my HTC 10 and I wanted smaller.  I ended up with the Sony xz2 compact.  It's smaller, a little thicker than my current. It feels great in the hand though.  It's odd, but due to size it feels gender affirming too, and I need all of that kind of thing:)  I wanted the Coral, but got green.  It matches a purse I have too!

I got the blue coral one with a clear Otterbox case.  After seeing a phone survive a plunge off the top of a castle I'm a firm believer in those things.

Today's Update.  After finally getting some stuff figured out I started Progesterone last night.  I told my doctor that I want to try it out so she gave me a script for 90 days.  I'll see how that does for me.  Today marks 9 months on HRT and I'm very happy where I am.

I'm nervous about next week because I have to go interview for my job.  Kinda strange but it's everyone doing it. Oh well. Also I'm meeting a Facebook friend for lunch.  We haven't met in person yet and she's in town for one of side businesses.  I can't wait to meet her.

Welp, that's about it for today.  It's back to work tomorrow and then fossil hunting on Saturday.
Title: Re: Robyn's Roundabout

Wow, almost a month since my last update.  It has been a wild and busy month.  I went and did the interview, physical agility test and waited.  And waited.  Other employees got their phone calls and offers but I waited and waited.  A week later I finally ask my boss if I should be concerned.  She told me to wait and she would make a phone call.  So about 30 minutes later I get my phone call with an offer.  I accept but still have to wait for an email with a link to confirm it all.  A week later the email never came.  I emailed back the HR lady and after a day of phone calls and emails find out I was accidentally put in the Rejected/Do Not Hire category. So they fixed that and I'm good to go now.

Today is the first day of orientation. I'm a little nervous which is odd since I've gone through this before when the last company came in.  As I sit here and type this all I look up at the digital picture frame that only has pictures from the trip to Ireland that my spouse and I went on a few years ago.  A picture popped up that I didn't recognize or even remember where it was taken at.  My spouse used the camera most of the trip while I used my mobile phone.  Oh well, I got a few more minutes before I have to leave.

Thanks for reading my rambling.

Hey gals, just dropped in for a bit.  I stepped away from here for a bit to get my head straight.  I had a rough patch at work with some bad calls.  Sure my PTSD got a bit bigger. Any way I updated my avatar picture to a more recent one.  I took it after riding some trails on a bike this week.  I've gotten into doing this again and I'm loving it.  We have some great trails where I live.  They have national competitions out here every once and a while.

It's coming up on my one year anniversary of when I told my spouse that I'm transgender.  It's a very important date for me so I want to do something for it. Transitioning is going very well. Everyone at work has been great about it. The patients are another matter.  I had one patient yesterday that refused to answer my questions but he would answer my partner and firefighter's questions.  I had them go outside so the patient had no choice but to talk to me. Other patients have been quite funny at times.

Any way that's all the time I got.  The little one has closing ceremonies for little league baseball this morning.

Until next time.

My last update.

Came up on for the one year anniversary and it went fine.  I got her a card and that's about it.  Next one is one year on HRT at the end of the month.  That should happen while we are on vacation at the beach.  I can't wait for that vacation.  It's something I really need right now. Beach, water, a cute swimsuit, family time, not working.  Just can't wait.

Well it's been fun here.  Take care everyone.
