Hi!

I received a call from my doctor today letting me know of my options for GRS now that I have my letters (yay!). My choices on their list were Dr. Maurice Garcia and Dr. Sinclair who I've heard bad things about soo.. I spent the day reading about Dr.Garcia and he actually seems like a promising candidate! From the limited amount of info I've found via google/youtube and forums on here about him, he seems to be a very capable/respectable surgeon.

But I figure it couldn't hurt to ask, are there any girls out there that went to Dr. Garcia for GRS? I'm going to try scheduling a consultation with him this coming week but I know that hearing from girls who have experience with him would be extremely helpful in my decision of whether or not he's the surgeon for me.

I'm also very curious of Dr. Garcia's technique and whether it's comparable to my dream surgeon's (Marci Bowers lol)

I'm trying to think where I seen one of Garcia reviewers on YouTube or maybe she is on my suspended Facebook account ?!?! But either way she has had a good experience from him. She got the cosmetic surgery but can always go back to him (I think ) for the colovaginaplasty which she probably will not. She is an older trans woman

And he has a tutorial on YouTube just search his name he post pics etc. it's a long discussion he get to the trans part 40 minutes time stamp onwards. (If I remember correctly )

you're right, I found his video on youtube which was super informative and helpful ( starts discussing his technique at 44:44! )

I'm still really hoping to find some girls to share their experience with him performing GRS.
Specifically I'd like to learn more about their post-op sensation and depth...which I'm sure Dr. Garcia will go over during our consultation but it'd still be best to hear from girls who have experienced his work firsthand (firstvagina? lol)

I have a couple of friends who have been to Garcia and they love him. I also have friends who've been to Sinclar and they are generally happy with him. I personally would not go to Sinclar either and would definitely choose Garcia over him. He recently relocated to SoCal from the Bay Area to teach and run a trans program out of Cedars-Sinai. I was considering him when I deciding about my surgery two years ago.

I can ask them. They are not members here.

I used Dr Gary Alter (yes I was Altered 😉) whose office is in Beverly Hills. He charges for consults and his surgical fee is probably one of the most expensive in the country. I had to pay upfront and was then reimbursed by my insurance company. I have a number of friends who have used him and all of us are very happy with our results.

What bad things did you hear about Dr. Sinclair? I'm considering him or Garcia too

I have done a consult with him and will be scheduling SRS with him.

Hi, I'm new to the site. I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of results photos of GCS by Dr. Garcia. I had a consultation with him a few months ago. The only things that didn't sit well were the lack of a portfolio, no self-lubrication, and he said I could only expect about 5" or less of depth... Still I'm considering him bc the thought of spending $20k to go to Thailand isn't that great either.

Narrowed my choices down to Dr Dugi in Oregon and Dr Maurice Garcia at Cedars-Sinai. Had my consult with Dr Garcia in Jan 2018, he is a very genuine and caring Dr and he demonstrates that he does this for sincere reasons. He cost a basic specialist copay on my insurance and the pics he shared with me shows that's his knife skills are excellent. The are finishing off my pre-auth and I am scheduled for surgery in September .. Earliest I can get time off work. I am sure I will be happy with the results.

Hi all I have now had my first stage of GRS completed with Dr. Garcia and am happy with the the results so far and will be going back in October for my second and final stage wish me luck. I will say this Dr. Garcia cares very much and is in it to help and not for the money he has gone above and beyond in his care. I.E giving me his personal cellphone and calling and texting me while on vacation in another country to make sure I am ok 😁. My Ob who is Dr. Rixt Luikenaar is also impressed and says the results look great. PM me if you'd like to ask more.

I had my orch. with Dr. Garcia back in Feb. this year and am concerning him for GRS surgery. I have been approved by Dr. McGinn. She can do my surgery this year but she's out of network so I will have to pay for a portion of the surgery. I am on the Bowers waiting list and also on her scheduled list for Mar. 05, 2020. Honestly, I would NOT recommend him, unless you have no other choice. The only good thing I can say is that the wait time was relatively short. The person who got a call/text I guess is one of the lucky few.. I guess he must like you a lot! For me, he has ignored my concerns. I had gender reassignment/vaginoplasty done a month ago. I developed a rectovaginal fistula which I am dealing with with other doctors, and he doesn't even want to respond to my emails. Before that, I had random heavy bleeding the day after they removed the catheter. It was bleeding heavily for 3-4 days, a few times a day it would start to bleed when I was walking and I lost tons of blood, many paper towels soaked with blood each time it happened. He told me to come down there so that he can explore the problem, put me under anesthesia, check out the area, etc, he said he would be there at 3:30 the day I came down and have an operating room available. I drove 6 hours, got there, and he didn't feel like showing up so I stayed overnight and the next day he didn't even want to see me, he had one of his staff just take a quick look at me and make sure I wasn't dying. He eventually came in for a few minutes and just looked at it quickly and sent me home. Also, the results look really bad. Really bad. I would say a 3/10 in terms of appearance. It looks nothing like a vagina, actually. I would be HAPPY to share pictures, bree1111111@gmail.com Unless you really can't wait, I would NOT recommend Dr. Garcia.

I will have SRS with Dr. Garcia next week.  YAY!

My experience with Dr Gracia was wonderful.  There were some complications for my case and the surgery took quite some time.

I spent one day in surgery and another 6 days at Cedar Sinai in the recovering.  That whole experience was excellent, the only complication in that process was some nausea on the last day for which I was given medication for.

The recovery back at home was more the real recovery, perhaps for some of own personal stuff made me experience some expected ups/downs.

About 3 weeks after I did get a UTI, and was treated effectively and quickly by a round of antibiotics.

As this is my first major surgery, the recovery process was quite the experience and as well for other issues; with the support of good friends and influences, mainly done alone in my apartment. 

I feel very good about the healing and look and all that.  Honestly, I have shown that selfie to some of my CIS / Lesbian friends and received nothing but amazing feedback.  Obviously won't post here nor to I want to in other ways.

I have found the entire team headed by Dr Garcia to be skilled, well trained, very caring and understanding and has met all my expectations and way more.  For myself, he was the right surgeon.  Again, there are many excellent surgeons and options out there, this was right for me, due to the care, coverage, etc etc.

I have had one complication in getting a tear, for which I will return in a month to get some minor stitches to heal up.  Please note, this is a very very small tear yet caution is being exercised and a follow up will address it (yes I live in Los Angeles)

Like many in the beginnings adjusting to both recovery, frequent dilation, douching etc, is quite the experience into the new world so to speak.  At present, I have been on the largest size for about 3 weeks (at first that baby wasn't easy, but better with time.

Not sure if this is addressing for what you are looking for...

Here are some nice synchronicity issues for me;

one of my friends in the community had hers one day after me and was 2 rooms down from where I was.  At some point her visitors became my visitors and which made the experience wonderful.  As well I was visited by many of my own supports from in and outside of the TG community.  It was a special experience I will never forget.  And I find myself getting teary as I write this.
