Title: How do I get rid of muscle mass?
Post by: EmmaJean on May 01, 2018, 07:27:53 PM
Hi everyone,
So I've been taking hormones for about 4 months now and I'm seeing some physical changes (👌) but my muscle mass seems to give me my worst body issues. And more than that, I'm afraid that's what will out me when I go out as female.
I don't exercise anymore, and I'm like 135 lbs 5'9, but my shoulders are so broad and I'm pretty cut.
Do you have any ideas or advice on how to get a more feminine frame?
Thanks so much for your time!
Emma

I've seen females with very manly looking body mass / muscles.   IN fact one of my fitness instructors puts my muscles to shame big time. That being said, losing it? Simply avoiding using it.. or even binding if you had to.  Focus on reps if you want to work out, not power / heavy weights.  Perhaps more stretching and less bulking up by curls / presses.

If you ever lifted weights or such in the past it will be a long road to see that recede. HRT should help as it will redistribute fat to the girly areas and not promote muscle growth. At some point you have to except your body shape and go forward. There is nothing we can do to change our bone frame, but we can enhance secondary traits to move attention away. We can soften our skin, present female hair, grow breasts, butts, thighs, and change (to some degree) our body hair. My advice would be to concentrate on those things and that should help you.

I have never worn girl clothes besides panties, but when I was doing research it seems like depending on the colors and styles you wear and either focus attention or draw away attention from your features!

For example, vertical stripes(or designs) can be slimming, and one thing I read in particular in a article for MtF is wearing low-neck shirts/dresses while also covering your shoulders; it draws attention away from them.  That might help you a little while you're on HRT!

At 5'9" and 135 lbs it's doubtful that you have a lot of muscle mass to lose.  HRT will help smooth out what you have with increased subcutaneous fat.

Emma don't worry about loosing mass. It will happen and as you skin softens and gets the extra fat buildup it will hide a lot of muscle contour. I was told that it could take 7-8 months. You will need to
Maintain some mass until you know how much effect the HRT will actually have. I've notice a drop in the last 11 months.

You will lose the bulky muscles and develop slimmer muscles as our T disappears. Keep exercising, its good for your health and even with exercise bulky muscles will disappear. You will look like a fit female.

Yes.  Even after a year of hard and heavy powerlifting training my biceps relaxed are only 12".  Flexed they are still smaller than they were pre-HRT when I wasn't exercising at all.  It's all smaller and yet much stronger.  Plus exercise just makes you feel good.

Patience, plain and simple.  I've been on HRT for almost two years and I am still losing muscle mass from my forearms and hands.  I think it took almost a year before I noticed that the women's tops I bought during my pre HRT days were no longer so tight around the shoulders, and over a year before I noticed I had lost a size in women's t shirts. It  takes time, and there may be a lot of night time and early morning aches and pains as well.

I recently decided to repurpose some of my old sport coats as boyfriend jackets.  When I tried them on after two years of HRT they looked like clown coats.  They are Brooks Brothers and worth the money to have reworked, and I just cannot find women's jackets in those colors and patterns.  I had to have each one taken in on the waist and narrowed across the shoulders, as well as having them hemmed up an inch or so and having the sleeves reduced in diameter—and these were jackets that fit me well before HRT.

Believe me, you will lose male muscle.  But it takes time.

Emma,

At 135 pounds and 5'9", I am envious.  You will be just fine with a year or two of  Estradiol and blocking your Testosterone. If you want to speed things up, eat a balanced diet of natural foods and do a lot of aerobic exercise.

As the other girls have said, just be a little patient. You will lose the muscle mass. We all did. It just takes time.

Lol just go vegan.  Must vegan girls I see are skinny as a rail, look like they need a cheeseburger, and have no muscles to speak of.  Just my incredibly biased outlook on it :D

trick with muscle wastage is stop feeding it. Reducing your protein intake for a start will help

While I'm up here on this rock Bluff I'm going to try to shoot this one out but internet is fading in and out.
I worked physically hard my entire life  age 49  and developed that weren't comfortable on me at all the only thing good about my depression it led to inactivity that resulted in my much reduced muscle mass in legs and arms.
This might be wrong due to my newness but as far as I know your skeletal structure won't change short of surgery I hope someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm now at 6 2 and 1/2 weighing about 165 I have a bad eating disorder and have no hunger and sometimes I find myself at 1:50 which I know is a little low but I do like it and could take it farther easily with no hunger whatsoever and any enjoyment of food.
Sorry I really can't check this I'm just relying and having faith on this voice to text because all I see is black boxes I hope it gets out.

Best wishes for your future I'm sure your muscles will reduce in time love Tatiana

Wait a few months. HRT is not a magic wand. Fat distribution and feminizing will occur soon. It just takes time. I know that's an oxymoron, but is true. Want an idea of how things progress? View the pictures of Archlord as she kept a full transition diary. You will be impressed.
