Hey guys,
I'm in the process of getting top surgery and I'm super excited but super nervous. I'm not nervous about the actual surgery (I've had a cavity so I know the drill lol, jk) but I'm nervous my insurance will deny coverage. I'm from Chicago but I live in Arizona for school so you can imagine how much harder it was finding a surgeon out here.
It was a long process, but I finally got a surgeon who took insurance, a therapist to write me a letter of support, and the money. I have Cigna, which has caused a couple problems just getting T, and we submitted my files to them 3 weeks ago.
So my question is, if anyone else has gone through insurance for top surgery, how long did it take for them to approve? Or even disapprove? I'm moving from Arizona to Tennessee in two months, so I'm kinda in a time crunch too. I'm excited to get approved but nervous to get denied, yknow.

He way it's going for me is that the doctors office called insurance and asked if it's covered and what the requirements are. The doctors office then called me back to let me know and I have a preop appt for July then we will know if I'm approved for the September surgery date. The hospital will send it in to insurance like everything else and whatever ins doesn't pay I will be billed for. I met with the surgeon in the middle of may. Not sure if this helps you......

I would be interested in knowing more about Cigna. I am switching to them primarily for the trans coverage, and hoping for top surgery soon.
