Title: Too much R.E.M.?
Post by: SailorMars1994 on June 08, 2018, 08:55:21 AM
I noticed that my insomnia has gone down a lot. I have yet to take sleeping meds to force sleep and haven't had a sleepless night in over a week. In addition, I have skipped days of taking meds and fell alseep just fine. There is only one issue with those nights. I seem to be dreaming way too much, and mug of the dreams and feelings are just bizarre. When i take those sleeping pills I basically pass out and wake up refreshed. Almost no dreaming.Without them, I go to sleep and have as said bizarre dreams. Is too much R.E.M. Really possible??

Hi Sailor

If you have been taking medication to sleep you have suppressed your REM periods.  REM is a period of sleep that allows your brain to consolidate and organize your experience in the real world.  It is usually symbolic and frankly unless you are in therapy it means little.  However, I suspect that you are just catching up.  It should eventually even out.  Additionally, there may be a lot going on in your life that you need to organize and the REM is what is doing that for you.

Hang in there.  If it doesn't reduce over the next several months I would talk with your prescribing doctor about it.
