Title: Intersex puberty question
Post by: Shambles on June 19, 2018, 05:41:23 AM
Im 35 born male, while i am on some meds that can cause breast growth ive been on these for years and theres only been a small rate of growth, in recent months and especially the last 4 weeks it feels and looks like my brests are growing daily. I have lost alot of weight but ive gone from a b to a small / med c cup in the last 4 weeks. For intersex people do they still experance pubity at the same normal time? It kinda feels like im going through a second but female one at 35 now. My wife keeps asking me if im taking hormones.... which im not but she dont belive me!

Intersexed covers a huge plethora of varying issues & diagnosis.  Some have 'precocious' puberty meaning they start super early growing breasts & pubic hair. Some don't produce enough or any sex hormones that their puberty onset is delayed until they start HRT.  There is a lot of variation in this.

Only way to know is to find out with our medical care.. and good luck finding a physician knowledgeable enough to be able to diagnose and treat, because most don't seem able to.

You might contact the nearest big children's hospital. Specialists in intersex conditions seem to cluster there because it was traditionally seen as a children's condition to be fixed rather than a lifelong issue. That is starting to change but it will be a while before adult practitioners feel a need to be trained. I was referred to our children's hospital (at 58 years old) and was treated respectfully and giving the first meaningful evaluation in my life.

It always feels odd when I walk into the childrens center and they ask me what my childs name is lmao. Um no, its for me actually.  <<Insert strange look from secretary>>  Oh, ok how may I help you?

Ya I've seen more than one 'pediatric' physician over the years.

Alot of times intersexed is caught at birth because of oddities or deformities.. though not always.  Sometimes they catch them around adolescence when a AFAB child doesn't have her period.. Sometimes much much later.  In my case starting full time on HRT cause an internal organ to start growing & responding.. at times violently.  Still working on getting it connected / repaired.  Should know in a month or two.. I hope.  The geneticist I went to see was in the childrens section.  Its not just intersexed disorders but anything like Down or Turner syndrome he sees folks for.

There are meds with breast growth side effect and it could very well feel like a second puberty. I took Saw and a few other herbals that changed my T levels as well as starting andropaus and this presented and felt like puberty along with breast growth

I have been on steroids for 20 years which messes around with the growth, it might just be that but it just seamed a different rate than for most of this time

There are many things that affect development and some are even dietary so unless you know conclusively that you are intersex and what is causing any kind of development then it's not easy to make any factual conclusion about it.
