Title: So i've been practicing my female voice with an app on my phone
Post by: hiddengirlsheila on June 27, 2018, 07:15:17 PM
I use an app on my phone called  "voice pitch analyzer" if anyone has ever heard of it and it works great, i'm very pleased and impressed with it. So far without surgery, i can achieve a female range of 185 and i dont even have to try very hard or put a lot of effort into it. My voice already has a rather high pitched tone but is 185 passable? I wish i could let you all hear my voice so you can determine better but is 185 good enough or would i need surgery to fully pass into a female voice? Or do i need more practicing and training of my female voice? Of course its hard to have my voice sounding female all the time because it is not my natural voice being that i'm in a male body pre-transitioned and with an Adam's apple but on the contrary i'm blessed with the potential to have a female voice regardless, i just have to learn how to use it more often to where it becomes a permanent fixture.

That's good news.  The voice can be a deal breaker.   Sometimes mine is excellent-my dad and his brothers all had high pitched voices for men.  So when I'm on my game it is a strength, but if I get dehydrated, look out.  :embarrassed:   Thanks for sharing the good news and I'm going to try that app.

From what you describe, It sounds like you're doing well with that app; there's a voice thread on the forum, where you can upload a sample of your voice, and I think some people are using sound cloud or something like that to upload their recording.

A voice is more than pitch however if everything else is in order, you have sufficient pitch (https://www.speechvoicelab.com/feminine-voice/) to sound feminine. The real question is do you have sufficient range to be expressive with pitch or do you have to work in a monotone. If you have the range, possibly all you will require would be a little speech therapy.

I'm very proud of myself, omg, i just reached a range of 217! That is like a cis woman's range! All i said was "hey" though, as you said Dena, i'd probably need speech therapy to carry out a conversation in that female voice. The biggest challenge is speaking like that consistently. Thanks for the website link Dena, i read a little of it and will read more.

Missymay, yes I will look for that thread and post a sample of the 217 ranged female voice. I dont think i can get to the maximum range but even many cis women dont have the max so i'm not too concerned with that. You look beautiful by the way, i have some envy.

Maria, it is very good news, yes, I'm glad my voice is not as deep as say Arnold Schwarzenegger's lol. No offense to him, but if he (she) were trans, then it'll be very difficult to be passable. He is very masculine. Maria you look beautiful too, are you asian? I have noticed and it seems that asian people can become very successful trans women, many Thailand people are trans and they look superb and amazing, sexy even. I wish i was asian but i'm part native american, german, and italian. My dad tells me i have my mother's eyes and some of my face resembles hers. He says i have his jaw though...which is not something that is positive, once i get on HRT it'll soften the features of my face but FFS might be necessary for the jaw except that its not terrible or overly bad so i might not need FFS because my face is feminine in my opinion and will only increase the feminine physique with HRT alone. My jaw is only a little square looking and protruding but it could always be rounder i guess.

Sorry for going off on a tangent there. :o

EDIT: I meant mostly my chin, not my whole jaw lol

Sheila, your journey with finding your voice sounds very similar to mine! And you definitely sound like you're on the right track! I can't wait to hear your sample in this thread is the one she's talking about:https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,126967.0.html (http://about:https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,126967.0.html)

I have some kinda femme traits, but the only thing I feel like is even remotely female about me is my voice.

How long have you been practicing? I do not want to feel like I'm hijacking your thread, but I made a video about what I went through with finding(and still finding) my voice as well as some links that might prove helpful for ya.
I will PM you it.

Hi Sheila,

Nice to see you posting. I used the Voice Pitch analyzer to practice my voice lesson assignments. The app works on Andriod devices, I am not sure about those fruit products. Practice practice practice is the key to being able to stay in the range and effect the correct inflections and nuances of female speech patterns. I don't practice and therefore I don't have a female voice. Also keep in mind gestures and body language. Both are different  than males.

Hugs,
   Laurie

Still have the app on my phone, love it. Used it with my speech coach, when I first started. My average pitch is 180 plus with a wide range. Recently, after 2.5 years, I decided to raise the average pitch into 200 range. Its was easy but feels strange with a higher voice, but I will get used to it.

Eryn sorry i completely missed your post yesterday, i will check my PM's for your message. I have only been practicing for a week so far. I'll post a sample of my female voice, which is my REAL voice, the voice i should have been born with and fluent in as if it was my native speaking language...well that doesnt make sense i guess, point is, its the voice that should been ingrained into me when i first started to talk instead of a boy's voice.

Yes Laurie, body language, gestures, mannerisms, ect, are all different and more refined and elegant than males. The female body itself is more refined and elegant. In no way am i trying to say men are sloppy pigs though, lol. Some are though.

Thanks for posting the app name, Voice Pitch Analyzer. Just installed it. Already had the Vocal Exercises Free app installed.

Jealous of you gals, I only hit 185 on pitch. Guess it's practice, practice for me

Here is a link to an amazing (and free) workbook for developing a feminine speaking pattern:
https://www.genderlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/voicebook020.pdf

Six months of working with this program and my female alter had no problems being understood as female on random phone calls to businesses for information.

It's important to have two pitch ranges in the West. Women in the US tend to use a slightly higher pitch when speaking with men compared to when they are speaking with other women. Raising their voices so they sound more like children is a subtle cultural norm for reinforcing their male conversationalists' dominance.

Hi Sheila!
Thanks for the tip! I just installed the Voice Pitch Analyzer on my phone. It is much better and easer to use then the one I tried in the past. The old app is called Voice Pitch Monitor. I just couldn't figure out how to use it. I think it is more for singing? With the analyzer app I at least know when I'm in the female pitch range.

Thanks workbook too Virginia! I will start reading it tonight. I have to wait till next month to start therapy. This is a nice head start to feminizing my voice and mannerisms.

The "Voice Pitch Analyzer" application works great. Its nice how you can chart progress by keeping as many recordings as possible to compare over time.

My starting male range when reading the tricky preloaded texts was between 80-95. After about 5-6 tries, I am consistently now in the androgynous range and between 150-180.

For me, getting a wider range was more tricky, but I like these analytical type of tools and helped me with voice training immensely.

Lately, I am now into the upper female range and have a wider tone, which I think helps my voice pass more than just trying to have a higher pitch, but more narrow tone.

The true tests:  Calling to ask questions about credit card, utility bills etc that are in my male name and being referred to as ma'am or miss makes me super happy! I just tell them its my husband and I have all his detailed memorized  :)
