Hi All! My name is Donica. I am a transsexual women and have been as far back as I can remember. I started HRT late in life (08/14/2017) and am looking forward to GRS hopefully late next year. For now, I just started facial hair removal and voice therapy. I spent most of my life in a numb, depressed  state of mind hiding my true identity. I was so tired of living this lie that I finally came out to my doctor's in June last year. I now feel new, alive and embracing life with a new found joy. I've been in and out of this forum and a few others for many years and found this one to be the most helpful and friendly. I'm looking forward to talking with you all about the long road of transitioning.

I am glad that you have become a member of Susan's Place and that you have shared your introductory posting with other members here on the Forums.
I am thinking that you may lots more questions and concerns, this is the right place for you to be to find out what others have done that may have been in your circumstances.
 
Be aware that there are a lot of members here that can identify with what you may be going through.

I see that our esteemed and beautiful member  @Jessica  has already welcomed you but also please allow me now to also warmly WELCOME you to Susan's Place.  You will find this a safe and friendly place to share with others  and to read about others similar trials, tribulations, and successes.
It is nice that you had signed up so you can share with others and involve yourself with some give and take with other members.

Donica... I sympathize with you. Hiding is like torture. I came out very late also but I knew basically in kindergarten I didn't fit in with the guys. I tried but never could catch on. Surgery for me though is impossible. But I agree that the joy I feel now is authentic and something I did not feel often as a guy.  I'm so glad you are joining us.

Thanks Dawn! I'm sorry to hear that surgery is impossible for you. May I ask why that is? My self, I'm 61 and in not so good health, but it hasn't stopped me. At least not yet.  :-\

Donica I have third stage

congestive heart failure. I didn't think I could even go on HRT. But thanks to all the info I got on Susan's it became possible. I'm now two years in and happier than ever.

I'm sorry to here that Dawn! Did you try to get GRS? and If so, did the surgeons deny you? I'm sorry to ask so many questions about it. But I have had three myocardial infarctions and two stents my self. It is well managed now. I haven't met with any surgeons yet but all of my doctors have been positive so far. I'm just not going to take "NO" for an answer.

Donica... So far I have had four open heart surgeries. One to replace a defective heart valve, they had to open me up again shortly after as I had internal bleeding. Next they implanted an ICD. I then had 4X cabg, I've also had four days in a coma for sepsis. I have been on blood thinners for thirty years. My ejection fraction has been as low as 17. If I were twenty it would only take a hot second to decide because things are so much different now.
