I just had a CBC panel done and my hemoglobin count is down by a third. My mind did it's usual thing of over worrying and visions of cancer, kidney disease came to mind. Am I overdoing it? It just might be a lack of iron.

I think you would be overthinking it, If the doctor didn't do more tests or ask to I don't think you should be worried. but I would check with a medical professional to be certain. just my thoughts on this.

There are many reasons for a low haemoglobin, some serious, some trivial. It does need a follow up from your family doctor or any specialists that you may be under.

I must have been born anemic. Is that possible? Anyways, I have to take iron tablets every day of my life because of it. At least they are inexpensive.

I was borderline anemic for my first several months on HRT. My doctor says the drop in testosterone causes a drop in hemoglobin production.

I started a T supplement and will check my CBC next test. My T last blood test was undetectable so I increased the T. The goal is 30 to 40 ng/dl. I have a low red blood count, high white blood count, low potassium (until I took cream of tartar) and low protein ( I have added in eating meat, yuck). I wonder it the lack of T was the issue.
I have been struggling with my blood counts for 5 years. So if things change it would be because of the T. It took me 1.5 years to add T back into my system. It took a lot for me to add it back into my system.

I would definitely mention this to your doctor. Better safe than sorry.
I noticed as well on my last set of bloodwork that my red cell count was right at the lowest number possible to still be in the "normal" range, when that hasn't been an issue in the past.

I've always been, as in since a rug rat, either anemic or borderline anemic. "Life on the Edge...." I guess ;D There are 2 different tests. When I first started HRT my doc was concerned over the borderline RBC results and sent me off for the "Better" (ie: More $$$ ) test. About the same result so he was happy.
If suddenly you have a test result that is "Out of Family" it is always good to redo the test or do better, more reliably, one to first confirm before hitting the panic button

If you're on feminizing HRT full time it's quite normal to see a drop in RBC count, just as it's quite normal for me to have a rise in RBCs taking testosterone. T levels directly impact the count. A third is quite a lot, though.... I would get that checked out further.
