Title: Becoming Danielle is getting realer and realer

I had my therapy session today and my therapist and I discussed my taking hormones. She's writing the letter necessary to start that process. I won't be able to get health insurance from my employer until the end of the year, so I might have to wait until then before I can take them, but as I continue marching toward transition my becoming my authentic self is getting realer and realer. Of course taking hormones will mean that I'll have to start coming out to people and that's what scares me more than anything else about my journey. But I'm in for the long-haul. My gender identity isn't going away and neither am I.

You can do it Danielle. The whole idea scared the crap out of me, too. So much so that I denied being trans for decades, and then put off coming out for months. But if I can do it, so can you.
Congrats on the referral from your therapist!

Danielle,
The hormones will take some time to start their magic. You will feel the results long before others will be able to detect them. That will give you time to settle in an with yourself so you will be more confident when people do begin take note of changes. When that time does come, you, likely, won't "Give a s)@$!" what they think. You will far too happy.

It's funny, but I'm scared and excited at the same time. I'm actually looking forward to being on E instead of T.

Aww, thank you! Yes, the avatar fits me perfectly. I don't have a personal picture of my authentic self yet, so until I do I thought I'd try an avatar that best describes me and this is it.
Hugs!!!

@Danielle Kristina
Dear Danielle K: Congratulations are in order for you. Hang on for an exciting ride... what you are describing about your feelings about transitioning are exactly what just about every transitioner here on the Forums goes through or has gone through.
Be certain to take all the time that you can to read the personal stories of others on here to find information and encouragement. Any questions or concerns that you have during your journey can be addressed by like-minded members here... be sure to post often, read often and follow the instructions of your doctor regarding your HRT regimen... and continue meeting with your therapist.
Be advised that HRT is not a quick and fast process... for some the changes are quicker and more significant and for others the changes are not as quick and might be less significant. It is all up to how your unique body reacts. What you read about others experiences most likely will not be your own.
The old saying here is that "Your Mileage May Vary" meaning just that, no one can predict exactly what your results will be, but given time, results will happen.
Hugs and well wishes and please keep us updated.
Danielle ... (the other Danielle from Alaska)

Hi Danielle Kristina,
Hormones only cost in the order of $100 per month - you may want to start straight away. Also coming out can be an all at once process or gradual- starting with close family and friends. The actual effects aren't very noticeable to other people for months. Go as fast or as slow as you want.
That is how I found it in the first 12 months anyway.
Exciting times. I'm happy for your breakthrough! [emoji214]
Best regards, Kirsten
