My skin has gotten very irritated from shave with a straight razor. I need to shave my body ever other day because it grows so fast. Now I have started using an electric razor. But I'm not happy with the results even though my skin is improving.
So I would like to know what kind of electric razors you use. Oh, I have very course thick hair.

But seriously, It's ok if you let your hair grow out a little and shave it every few days. Do you wear short skirts daily or something? I resigned to the fact that I really didn't need to shave mine everyday and it was a lot of work, especially with how fast mine grows. So, I use a razor (I use the Venus kind) every few days.

Hi Jillieann,
It's nothing less than a blade for me as I find an lectric razor doesn't remove the shadow. Not a good look with your best femme outfit.

An alternative to using an electric shaver, or a blade is waxing. It's messier, takes a lot longer, there is a clean-up involved afterwards, it hurts, it difficult to do, and takes practice to get the best results, and it is more expensive.
Hmmmmmmm so why the heck would you want to do it... :)
The results are wonderful. No stubble, silky smooth skin, generally it lasts from a month to 2 months (Depends on your hair type), and the hair re-grows in finer. Like many ladies I've been waxing my legs for many years now and I have hardly any leg hair left now :)

I have tried waxing and wasn't very successful with that, I tried "Nad's" and was a little more successful with that. But, I mostly use Epil Silk Epilator and have been very successful with that, the hair growth is much slower and softer, in fact it is now to the point that you can't see most of it.

Lawn mower? Too big to get into my bathroom and shaving outside in February would deliver a virulent case of pneumonia!
Epilator? ow... ow... ow... ow... OWWWWWWW! I got one and it is WAY too slow in pulling the hairs.
Waxing? Add a wick and you can light up the room! I light up the room with "bright" language - it hurts but yes, it does work if you can zone out of the way of the pain! I am planning to try wax strips on my arms - those hairs grow way too fast.
I find that using a regular two bladed razor in the shower is OK as long as I use a good lubricant and a vitamin E skin lotion afterwards. One good lubricant is cheap hair conditioner but it's pretty transparent and you can't see where you've been. I use a layer of conditioner with a cheap shave cream on top. I go slow and rub in a generous amount of skin lotion afterward.
I notice that if I wait too long (more than 2 days) between shaving my skin gets more irritated but if I wait a week it doesn't (except that my legs look like they've been populated by a petrified forest!)

Thank you all for your help. I do have an Epilator and I have started to us it more. Your right it is it OWWWWWWW! But it does help.
I just have to get use to some stuble, but I really don't like it. I like sooth legs and .....

Hey there Helen
You might want to try Veet wax strips. I used them on my arms in the past and they worked very well. Now due to HRT my body hair is so fine that I no longer need to use them.

I was wondering, instead of dropping a ten spot or so on some wax strips, why not duct tape? It works for practically everything else! ;D

I finally used the VEET wax strips - OUCH but not too loud!
They came with a tiny spray bottle containing a liquid with menthol and camphor in it that is used to reduce the pain of ripping the hair out by its roots. It doesn't numb the nerves as much as overload them with stimuli so the pain is not registered. And it worked! The few hairs that stubbornly clung were dispatched with tweezers and after I got bored, a razor.
The best part? SMOOTH - NO STUBBLE THE DAY AFTER! I can't wait to see how long that will last.
I waxed my legs once and had horrors with the ingrown hairs for weeks after - never again - but this looks like it'll become a habit.
BTW - duct tape turns out NOT to be sticky enough to pull hairs but enough to hurt (yes, I really tried it! Maybe the hairs were too short?)

A woman I know says all any woman needs in a tool kit is duct tape and WD40.
