I'm at the phase where I'm beginning to put together choices of doctor.
Anyone who has had experience, good or bad, with doctors in the US or Canada would be appreciated. Though I'm also still looking at Thailand. I'm really scared I will never get this done.
Thanks...
Lexi

Start out by telling us more about yourself and what your priorities are for a surgeon. If you would like a local surgeon, how will you pay for the surgery, time period and features of the surgery you would prefer. You have far more choice today than I did and you could probably have the pick of 15-20 surgeons that we know of with new ones often added to the list.

Less than 30k, in hospital care... I don't care about depth like 4.5 in is even good for me... I'm looking for sometime in a couple years. Appearance and sensation are the biggest concerns

I don't mind travel. I'm saving and maybe able to take out a loan to help.

What are the most important criteria in choosing a surgeon? What's not important?

Important: cost/affordability. Asthetic and sensation, in hospital care.
Unimportant: depth, distance.

In Thailand Suporn and Chettawut are best known, with PAI getting more well known recently (in the English speaking sites). There's heaps of others in Thailand, and some a fair bit cheaper but its hard to find out much about them.
I believe Suporn is most expensive, wait list over a year, and has the best aftercare, PAI the best hospital and short wait list. Chettawut doesn't operate out of a hospital at all. Suporn has a nice shiny new hospital, but I don't know how it ranks - the previous one was ok, but not top tier. Suporn has a unique technique and Chettawut has some variation on it. PAI does penile inversion as is standard outside Thailand.
Well established names in USA are Marci Bowers (3 year wait list so obviously popular), Christine McGinn, Toby Meltzer. THere's a lot of new surgeons lately in the USA, and its hard to find out much about them - that seems risky to me as they would be relatively inexperienced, and some surgeons have high rates of problems (you won't be able to find out). I can't say too much else since I'm personally more interested in Thailand.
For aesthetics, I think there's pictures of all these surgeons work in the pm I sent you before.
Its hard to say sensation, since who can compare. There's various levels of complaints and complications with them, but there's other surgeons with vastly more.

Marci Bowers has been delivering outstanding results consistently in the past couple of years. i really wanna go to her because her kitties are some of the best looking i've ever seen, but a 3 yrs wait is way too long :'(

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Ley, an associate of Dr. Meltzer, in Scottsdale AZ.
