Title: Finding family you never knew you had.

We had a new meeting at the Rainbow Center in Tacoma. Now movie night will be on the second Tuesday of each month. We all gathered around the TeeVee to watch Better than Chocolate. The movie was not that good but the company was fantastic. More and more they are becoming family. I am so glad I stepped out of the shadows and stepped into the light. I was blind but now I see.

@DawnOday
Dear Dawn: Thank you for sharing your posting and
thoughts about "Finding Family you never knew you had."
I personally understand exactly what the point of your comment is.... my family and long time old friends back home were and still to this day are not treating me as family since I announced my transition plans over 4 years ago and eventually came out full-time as Danielle.
That was the catalyst for me to quit my male-mode job and to relocate far away to start my own business as a woman, in my new very small town.... For 21 months now since early December 2016 I have been living here and finding my place as a woman in this town and finding and making a new group of friends, some very close friends now, lots of acquaintances and even a few suitors....
.....they have become my family and in so many ways they are closer to me and they involve so many happy times and memories that it makes the personal pain of my life back before my transition with my real family nothing but a distant and unpleasant memory.... all of that is very sad to say, but it is what it is... so I deal with it and stay optimistic and positive about my future. I still have the hope of making peace with my old family and friends but I am no longer constantly consumed with those issues.
So, again Dawn, your post hit a chord with me in a big way.....
Thank you again for your posting.
Hugs,
Danielle

Excellent description Dawn and so accurate and true. We "see" so much more. We have more emotions. At last we may properly live!
Hugs

Danielle..So glad you found happiness in the far north. Luckily my real family is stronger than ever. I am just adding to it. I have always emphasized that family is everything and nothing is more important.

My real family are those who love me, and those I love. Happenstance genetics do not form lasting family ties, I'm afraid. Oh, there are a few who are a part of my loving family, but much of my real and loving family are not blood relations.
I count myself very fortunate to have found these people, to have them in my life.
I was told before I transitioned that I would lose my family, lose my friends, and be alone. This has not happened. I have reconnected with relatives, made friends, formed new connections, and am building my family. I have more dear, close connections than 'he' ever had.
I am blessed to have my current family.

Michelle We could not have a more fitting family member than yourself. I envy your courage.
