Title: First endocrinologist appointment.
Post by: Coffeedrew on August 19, 2018, 06:30:42 PM
So I went to my first endocrinologist appointment. So far what happened was I had to give them a list of all my medical history. They took the normal information that they take when someone gos into the doctor's office.
And basically he talked with me for close to 45 minutes and asked me how much I knew about HRT and then what I didn't know he filled me in on the rest of it. He told me a lot of the effects and what it would do and how there are different risks associated with it. I had to sign some contract with him basically saying that I know the risks.I am using hrt drugs as a off label. He will monitor me the best he can and safely but if something goes wrong I knew the risks and it's not his fault and I cannot go after him legally.I guess if I follow everything he says then it should be safe.Is that normal to sign a consent form?(he told me most of his patients who go in there are really happy when they come back in for their follow-ups because HRT really helps them) He was the person that my therapist recommended to be the best.So as of now I got labs done and I am just waiting to see if everything is a go for HRT.

Wow Coffeedrew-big news!
You are going to feel like a million bucks for the first 6 months and then the emotions will feel like nothing you have felt before. All good though.
I'm excited for you. I would love to hear your experience as you go.
Look after yourself, Kirsten[emoji214]

Yes Coffeedrew it is customary to sign an Informed Consent Form.

I wish you well on your HRT journey.

Congratulations, CoffeeDrew!

Yes, that for is your informed consent, and any good doctor will have you sign one.  My therapist spent an entire one-hour session going over informed consent before she wrote her referral letter for me to begin HRT.

When you hear someone talking about getting treatment via informed consent, what they mean is that the only preliminary required of them was to sign that form.  In fact, everyone, whether they go the "informed consent" route or not, has to sign it.
