Title: Does HRT feminize your face and how?

Just wondering if HRT feminizes your face or it becomes more feminine and how does it do it? I know it gives you breasts if its estrogen but not sure about the other effects. Thank you in advance for answering. :)

Hi hiddengirlshelia
HRT effects vary hugely depending on several factors, age, health ,diet etc etc. Potentially HRT can do many things like thin out body hair, thicken the hair on your head, deepen voice(Testosterone FTM) , redistribution of body fat patterns, breast growth, facial changes vary so much that it is hard to describe...my face rounded out a bit but I have difficulty seeing the difference however other around me can see it better than I can. psychological changes, many experience relief from GD and that varies from a lot to nothing. There are many effects of HRT and you may get some of them, you may get all of them and have a fabulous result or you may get very little to no result at all. There are women on here who have been on HRT for a long time and have had not real physical effects at all.
From what I see everyone is so different but as a general rule the younger you are able to start then the better effect they will likly have as there is less time for the testosterone to do its thing but even at my age I still have had a good outcome.
I would suggest you read a few of the posts within this forum for a better overall guide to what you can expect.
Hope that helps a bit
Take care

I just turned 41 and I've been on HRT for a little over a month and I've already seen some subtle changes to my face. It's early yet but the softening of the skin plus some tapering of the chin and slight fat redistribution in my cheek area has definitely had a feminizing effect on me. One thing that happened though is I get awful dark circles around my eyes now that I need to address with nightly care and neutralizing makeup techniques (though I don't wear makeup all the time!)

I would add, I used to use this makeup app on my phone (You Cam) to try out looks and colors and recently the type of makeup and the overall effect is REALLY different which I think means my face has changed and not just from aging or weight loss. Honestly, I look WAY better in makeup (especially around the eyes) now than I did before.

Yes it does. This picture is from a while ago but you can see a difference. I'm not terribly young either. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180904/80bb3ab4b5235bcd619c5b0d6c9107ad.jpg)

Nice Deborah!
I have seen changes as well. A bit more fat on the cheeks and my skin just looks softer and more feminine. Several people have commented on the latter. My spouse to be ex - said it a few times, so I think there is something to it even though the underlying structure does not change without surgery.

I noticed a difference in my face at about two or three months on HRT. I was putting on lipstick one day and noticed something different: those weren't the same lips I saw in the mirror the previous week! They were unmistakeably fuller, and the change happened in the space of days.
Since then, I have noticed differences in the shape of my eyes, and in the contour of my cheeks. I am hard pressed to tell exactly what exactly the changes are - they are pretty subtle - but the difference is unmistakeable. It used to be that I could see a girl in the mirror if I tried hard and used my imagination. Now, at a year and a half, as long as I ignore the hairline I have a hard time seeing a guy there.
Oh, my eyes used to be chronically red. Now, along with the shape changing, the red is all gone. I have no idea what that is about, but I'll take it!

If I'm not mistaken you have long hair? I may get backlash for saying it but that helps a lot.. of course lol
Facial changes are very minor... I'm 11 months and I still see male. I laser focus on my sharp features that I don't like.. Even my overall face shape and size... I'm still struggling with facial hair removal... My circumstances are different because there are other women I think you can better relate to who have passed early on.
I'm very biased but I think if your hair is short, be prepared to be clocked as trans very early on. I felt like I was and still am being constantly "roasted".. I kinda knew this would happen, especially with family calling out my "maleness" that they perceive is permenant. Personally, this fuels me in a way because I really have nothing to lose... Lol I know in the US, or NYC specifically, the medical treatment and support for transgender people is lacking... Things could always be worse of course, but they could be a lot better too

HRT feminized my face by softening the skin and facial muscles, and also by adding fat; it also softened my complexion, and made me look younger; however, I had a large forward sloping forehead with a lot of brow bone, a masculine nose, and a square jaw with a masculine chin, so I needed FFS to correct those features.

Hello again Sheila
I am 7 months HRT and am beginning to see some minor physical changes.
I should point out that in my case the first changes were one emotional - a sense of peace - and one physical - softer skin all round. On the physical side shortly after you develop breast buds and then breasts.
As regards the face the changes are hard to determine precisely, I am seeing more fat in the cheeks such that my face looks a tad more feminine enhanced with make up. I am waiting 2 years to see how successful HRT is on my face before I decide whether surgery necessary.
From viewing so many pictures or meeting other transgirls further along the HRT path, there is no doubt that if you are prepared to wait, you should see at least some feminization of the face aswell as other parts of the body!
I wish you success if you decide to take the HRT journey.
Hugs
Pamela

It will change things but it does take time. Usually you will see you cheeks slowly fill in and remove the hard sharp lines that guys have. Your skin will change in firmness and texture.
Before HRT, at 3 months HRT, 1year 5 months, the other day

The changes are very slow but they do happen. Getting rid of a lot of the facial hair helps a good deal also. Those heavy hairs just make the skin much rougher.
