Title: Height Changes

I've read a few things here and there about losing height after going on hormones. This is for MTF transition. Can some of you that have been on hormones for a few years give me your experience with this phenomena? I am currently 5'6" and always felt short because I was trying to live as a man. That's not a bad height for a woman but I was wondering if HRT might make me lose even more height than I already am? I am currently working with my therapist to start HRT as soon as I can. This is just a curious question I have. Being short isn't the worst thing for women but I guess I worry about becoming even smaller and less visible at work. Lord knows how being a woman will most likely take my career into the toilet. It's the way of the world. Love and faith to you.

@Gavrielle66
First,it is important make an effort to lose any significant excess weight, then exercise, active lifestyle and then the hormones help redistribute fat to make more curves in the right places....
Many transitioners experience some loss in height, but of course as one gets older usually there is a loss of height as anyway. Also shoe size may go down a half size, perhaps a full size or so. Finger ring size can also be smaller.
Dramatic weight loss by itself can reduce almost all of these measurements so if one is significantly overweight that is always a very good place to start, even well before hormones.

Thanks Danielle,
Weight is my first concern right now. I am not in good physical shape and am significantly overweight. I have recently adopted a new outlook and determination to be healthier. I am trying to stick to daily exercise and my diet has change drastically. OF course the first effects are always water weight but I have already lost six pounds since last week. I want to give myself the best chance to be the best me that I can be. Love and faith

I know that the bone structure does not change on HRT. I think I read somewhere that ligaments shift a bit?
My experience is that I was between 5'-101/2" and 5'-11. I am now just hitting 5'-9". My foot size has dropped a 1/2 to a full size.
Not sure how helpful that is but there it is.

Thanks for sharing your experience Jacqui. I guess for a guy I always felt strangely inadequate about my height. I know that it's perfectly normal for girls to be short and in some cases it's preferable. It's kind of weird to think that I might actually get shorter. I sure wouldn't mind having smaller feet though. Only time will tell I suppose. It's not my biggest concern at the moment but it is still a curiosity. Love and faith.

Gabrielle,
No worries. 5'-6" is pretty average for most cis females. Only one of the women in my family are 5'-6". Short is great and cute for females.
Head up(see what I did there? ;) )
Warmly,
Jacqui

That is such a sweet thought Jacqui. Thank you for that. I'm pretty sure I have never been considered cute except maybe when I was a baby. It would be nice to think that other people find me cute. I'd really like to look in the mirror one day and think that I look pretty. That is what I'm working towards. Love and faith.
