Title: Letter for voice surgery ?
Post by: Gamergirl on September 27, 2018, 02:11:59 AM
Hello,

Silly question.. But do we need a letter from a therapist if we are post-op ? It seems like an issue that should be well behind me already.  All documents and physical gender is female.  Cant see why I would need one still.

Thanks

Apart from genital surgery the only therapist letters I've heard of are for ffs in Spain, and that's only due to a local tax on cosmetic surgery. Wouldn't surprise me if insurance companies wanted them just to make life difficult.

I second what Anon said. Usually only for SRS, you should be fine without one for VFS.

Yea you contact the doctors office and say you have $$$ thats all that really is important. I never got a letter for any of my surgeries. Crap I never went to a therapist............. On the other hand I was ALWAYS the person I claimed I am when I was dealing with the doctors. I suspect a lot of the people that are required to have a letter show up at a doctors office presenting a man and telling the doctor they are a woman which of course will make the doctor ask themselves if this person is serious.......
